Question International Beatle Week queries

Hello! I'm a newbie here, so please forgive me if this has already been discussed.

I will be making my first pilgrimmage to "The Holy Land" for Beatle Week, and instead of just going on my own, I am looking into tours. The two that I have found thus far are:

"Magical History Tour" http://www.liverpooltour.com/home.htm

and

"Beatles Radio Tour" http://www.specialgrouptours.com/htm...adio_tour.html

The MHT looks like it has more to offer, but I'm not keen on going to Amsterdam. The BRT excludes Amsterdam, but it looks as if it doesn't have that much more to offer.

HELP!

Has anyone gone on either of these tours and can provide some insight? It's a bit of money and I want to make sure it's well-spent (not to mention I have a FAB time!). Pros/cons? Good/bad? Yea/nay? Any other Beatle Week tours out there that I should be aware of?

Thanks fellow Beatlegoers!

(anyone else going to the Week from Southern Cali?)

hiya,beatlegrrrl9! welcome to the links!

try The Magical Mystery Tour
http://www.cavern-liverpool.co.uk/mmt/index.htm
when you book it, ask for Eddie, who is the tour guide, and was a good mate of john lennon's when they were growing up. i can't remember the busdriver's name. but his wife, at one time, dated ringo back in the day.

also go to The Beatles Story Exhibition:

I bought some tickets in 2004 from the MHT people and they screwed up my reservation in Liverpool, leaving my friend and I with no place to stay in a full-up city. They were also of no help trying to get us alternative arrangements, just kept whining about how it wasn't their fault that they didn't bother to bring our paperwork with them (??) - luckily somebody at CCT took pity on us and negotiated with the hotel to put us up on cots in a conference room and we had to use the public restrooms in the lobby. So my experience with the MHT folks was less than ideal. But if you're going by yourself and/or going for the first time, a tour might be a nice way to meet people and see things you might not see otherwise. Talk to them and see if you can get a discount if you don't go to Amsterdam and just meet up with them later in London or Liverpool.

To their credit, however, they were very efficient in refunding part of our package price and processed the refund extremely quickly and courteously.

I would kind of like to go this year, but I think if I do, I'm going to try to do it on my own without having to go through a tour. I'm waiting to see if some rumors pan out before I make any decisions though.

Welcome to the forum, I see you're a fellow So Cal fan. You can look through these sites for more tours...

You'll love Beatleweek in Liverpool!!!!! This year will be my eighth one!!!!! I live in the south of England though, so it's not quite such a long journey for me as it will be for you!!!!! I went on my own for the first 2 years but you make so many friends that you never feel like you're alone!!!!!
I've always gone on a package with Cavern City Tours. The Magical Mysyery Tour bus ride is a must as well as a trip to Mendips and 20 Forthlin Rd!!! But you need to book in advance for those, especially to John and Paul's old houses which have to be booked through the National Trust.

I'm thinking of going this year, but the problem is the prices - they just get higher and higher every year! Maybe if we can organise some kind of Beatlelinks gathering on the Sunday I'd be more prepared to spend the pennies. :-)

You're right!!! The prices do continue to soar every year!!!!!
I'm always up for a gathering though!!! Maybe we should have a Beatleweek thread again like we did last year and find out who's going?!

I'll open and sticky one a little nearer the time. :-)

We could all be sad and wear little nametags with the Blinks logo on it!

A thread nearer the time is a good idea. It's a little too soon to open it now, but I'm excited already!!!!! Oooohhhhh!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! What I'm really looking for are tours that fly from the US to the UK that are mostly all inclusive, as I don't want to travel on my own to just Liverpool. =)
