A harmonium is a reed organ played by means of a keyboard and powered by bellows and treadles. I've personally never heard one played, but I'm sure it could sound somewhat similar.

So what instrument does John play? I thought he arranged the organ melody, or he didn't?

A harmonium does not sound like a bass...I've heard one played, it sounds like an organ, or maybe an accordion...you know, that kind of reedy, windy sound.

What song are we talking about, anyway, if John played it? And is this going to devolve into YET ANOTHER John-bashing session if it turns out he didn't write the arrangement down himself? Because if it is, I refuse to participate...the man couldn't read music, Jelly, though I am SURE he wrote EVERY SINGLE SONG HE HAS BEEN CREDITED WITH and played his own instruments. Give it a bleepin' rest with the bash-o-rama, it's getting old.

Here are some pictures of a harmonium and in the Beatles world wide picture catalogue there are plenty of pictures of George and John playing one.

It does not really sound like a bass.
