The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame (The Mistake By The Lake) has released their list of nominees for 2012. This one may be the worst ever.
Heart and Small Faces/Faces deserve to be inducted
Joan Jett, Chaka Kahn, Guns & Roses and The Cure are borderline at best.
Eric B & Rakeem....who the hell are these clowns?????????????
Where are The Moody Blues, ELO and Pat Benatar?
I read another article listing some more nominees. Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Donna Summer, Donovan, and a few others.
If they do what they're supposed to do (which they won't), and nominate actual rock bands (it is a rock and roll hall of fame isn't it), it would actually be a very good year.
I just read that also nominated are Freddie King (Blues), The Spinners and the holdovers from last year.......WAR, Donovan, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donna Summer and Laura Nyro.

The R & R Hall of Fame is in fact a joke. Others have mentioned great bands that have not been inducted. I'll mention another who I think should be there...Thin Lizzy.
In addition to having a good string of hits and top LP's in the mid-late 70's into the early 80's, the introduction of their signature "dual guitar" sound is often credited to them.

Thats probably a reason why my local classic rock station, 98.5 WNCX, has a "Hall of Fame of the People". They started it a couple years ago and basically just listed a whole list of bands and musicians and people just voted on em. Then they pick the top ones (I forget how many) to induct into their own "Hall of Fame". When they do, each day they reveal another person/band that got voted in. John was voted in this year (tho the Beatles themselves were voted in the first year they had it). Elton John and Neil Young are 2 others that have been voted in so far this year.
