Lets Talk Dylan.....Volume 2

Saw Dylan in Liverpool, and he was fantastic, a really great show.

I don't really listen to anything by Dylan after 1979(excluding Dark Eyes) but he's the greatest artist of all time, overshadowing the Beatles.

Dylan had great respect for the Beatles and became a best mate to Goerge and admired McCartneys voice and even hung around briefly with John. Two very different kinds of music and not really comparable.

As for listening to nothing after 1979, you are missing a few great albums in that time.

Also Tell Tale Signs, which is quite a lovely retrospect of Dylan from 1989 onward, that I enjoyed very much. If somebody haven't listened to any Dylan since the 70's, that's a good one to start with, I think.

Reports suggest that another new Dylan album will be out late November/early December consisting of......XMAS SONGS!!!!

Did Dylan record an album in May (and was it a Christmas album)?
A month or so ago, there was a rumour that, following his European tour earlier this year, Dylan had gone into a studio to record another album. This was surprising in itself, given that "Together Through Life" had only just been released, but what was even more surprising was the suggestion that this would be a Christmas album. At the time, we could get no substantiation of the story and, not wishing to spread a rumour for which there was no additional information, chose not to include it in ISIS magazine or on the ISIS website. In the hope of receiving feedback/confirmation, we did, however, print this rumour in our ISIS newsletter (June 2009). Since then, we have received more snippets about this initial rumour. While we cannot reveal the nature of, nor the source of, these snippets, we now feel there are sufficient grounds to go public.

We have also linked these various bits and pieces of information to another, earlier, rumour. Around the time that "Together Through Life" was about to come out, it was said that its release had in fact been brought forward from the originally slated date, namely this coming autumn. We wondered why and now think we have the answer.

We cannot guarantee that these reports will prove to be accurate but this is the way it seems to us:-

Dylan and Sony are planning to release a Christmas album later this year. There is no indication whether this album will consist of Christmas standards, Dylan originals or a mixture of the two.

I don't know. The combo Dylan and Xmas songs...

What I find truly disturbing about this article is that, Dylan or no Dylan, you cannot walk on the streets in NJ without having to show ID!

You're Bob Dylan? NJ police want to see some ID

Rock legend Bob Dylan was treated like a complete unknown by police in a New Jersey shore community when a resident called to report someone wandering around the neighborhood.

Dylan was in Long Branch, about a two-hour drive south of New York City, on July 23 as part of a tour with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp that was to play at a baseball stadium in nearby Lakewood.

A 24-year-old police officer apparently was unaware of who Dylan is and asked him for identification, Long Branch business administrator Howard Woolley said Friday.

"I don't think she was familiar with his entire body of work," Woolley said.

The incident began at 5 p.m. when a resident said a man was wandering around a low-income, predominantly minority neighborhood several blocks from the oceanfront looking at houses.

The police officer drove up to Dylan, who was wearing a blue jacket, and asked him his name. According to Woolley, the following exchange ensued:

"What is your name, sir?" the officer asked.

"Bob Dylan," Dylan said.

"OK, what are you doing here?" the officer asked.

"I'm on tour," the singer replied.

A second officer, also in his 20s, responded to assist the first officer. He, too, apparently was unfamiliar with Dylan, Woolley said.

The officers asked Dylan for identification. The singer of such classics as "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Blowin' in the Wind" said that he didn't have any ID with him, that he was just walking around looking at houses to pass some time before that night's show.

The officers asked Dylan, 68, to accompany them back to the Ocean Place Resort and Spa, where the performers were staying. Once there, tour staff vouched for Dylan.

The officers thanked him for his cooperation.

"He couldn't have been any nicer to them," Woolley added.

How did it feel? A Dylan publicist did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment Friday.

It is always a smart idea to carry your id. What I like about this, respect and cooperation by all parties! This story made me like Bob just a little more.

From what I know about Bob he probably took a fiendish delight in the whole incident!

Only thing I can say about the ID thing - it wouldn't happen in Sweden. Here the police can't just demand ID of a person doing no real harm or pick him up unless he's drunk or high or something like that.

he was 'out of place'... coming off as suspicious. His ID was requested, not demanded and he wasn't detained or arrested or anything....

I saw this story and thought it so funny! Remember when they pulled George over for speeding and the officer mistook him for a Rolling Stone?

Very cool. I bet he liked that. Not being treated differently because of who he is, I mean.

This date coincides with Dylan's Fall tour - to be precise with the first of three shows at the Hollywood Palladium - but whether we will get to hear Dylan singing any of these Christmas songs in concert is another matter entirely.[/SIZE]

Dylan will donate all his U.S. royalties from album sales to the charity group Feeding America, and in a statement he said he hopes it brings "food security to people in need."

Feeding America said it expects to provide meals to 1.4 million people this holiday season with the album proceeds.

Columbia said Dylan plans to donate his international royalties to two charity organizations that give meals to needy people in Britain and the developing world. But details on that partnership are still being worked out.
