Default George and Bob

Is maybe "Where Were You Last Night" the closest Georga and Bob ever got on a recording together?

Not counting the Bangla Desh performance.

It's really a Bob song I think, as for lyrics, but I can see for instance Bob and George having a laugh whilst coming up both with the words.

So people, is this the closest George/Bob one?

Cool lyrics btw

Where were you last night?
You were so uptight
What did you do, who did you see?
Were you with someone
Who reminded you of me?

Where were you last night?

Where were you last week?
Were you up a creek?
Did you stay up pacing the floor?
Got me worried
You ignore me more and more

Where were you last night?
You weren't around me
When they found me
Where were you last night?

You'd better stop your messin around
Your name is going round from town to town
It's making me sad
Making me feel bad
Where were you last night?

Where were you last year?
You're sure as [...]
You weren't waiting where you said
You sent someone in your place instead

Where were you last night?
It's getting to me
Making me gloomy
Where were you last night?

I think this song was written jointly. It has the hallmarks of a Bob song but it has much humour in the lyrics which suggest George was involved quite heavily.
I think this is the closest they got to recording together. They played live together various times but on record it was usually George recording (brilliantly) Bob's songs.
It's a shame they never did more together.Bob is the superior songwriter but George was a very funny guy (also a good writer of course) and they could have came up with some classics.

Where Were You Last Night is a excellent song, one of the best from Volume 3.

I am glad responses are coming in yes those recordings are priceless, amazing and good to see that indeed there are various bootlegs containing this.

That Spot The Looney picture is hilarious

Yes, that Spot The Loony picture is priceless! They look so lovely! George looks the best though! His bearded look goes very well with the attire!

Some great stuff on those bootlegs! And their version of Da Do Run Run is very entertaining.

I think of Where Were You Last Night as a collaboration too. I can hear George the songwriter in lines. I think the line "You weren't waiting where you said, you sent someone in your place instead" sounds very George (others may think Bob). "It's getting to me, making me gloomy" seems Bob. Makes sense here that they're singing their own lines. Of course now I'll probably find out I'm wrong!

This is one of my favorite songs from Wilbury III. I just love George and Bob together here.
