"A Hard Day's Write"
I don't know if anyone else has heard of or has the book, but it's very interesting. It describes the meaning, inspiration, or story behind nearly every Beatles song ever. It's a great book, and can be used as a reference or a book just to read. I'd reccomend buying if you're ever to come across it...

Definitely a book that every Beatle fan should have. I have been known to use it from time to time when posting trivia questions in the contest forum.

Crapper. The first Beatle book I bought was The Beatles by Hunter Davis because that was the first and ONLY book I am dating myself.
Okay, I have this book too. Very cool.

It was one of my first Beatles books too, and I am very glad that I have it. I haven't looked at it in a while, but what everyone here said is right: it is soooo good as a reference guide, and is an enjoyable read too. And since the boys were hotttttter than hottttt back in the day, it makes for good eye candy as well. ;)

I think it is an excellent and well written book. LL9, I have no doubt your mom loved the book. I have a feeling, a feeling deep inside, oh yeah that you and she will bond even more over the book.
As for me, I am the lone Beatle fan in my family. Thanks to me, my relatives at least have a heightened appreciation for the Beatles!

Me too! It was one of my first books and I think an essential read for budding Beatlemaniacs. I actually bought it and kept it from myself as a reward for making it through a tough time at work right before my vacation in 1996. I also reference it from time to time. Another book similar in stripe is "Tell Me Why" though that book goes into the album performances of the songs which includes the ones they didn't write.

The author released an "Expanded verison to include "Free As a Bird" and 21 other songs from Anthology and Live at the BBC", too. I have that version, but if anyone doesn't and wants the meaning behind some of the songs on those 2 CD's, ask and you shall receive...

I love this book! I must have read it cover to cover several times, my copies really battered now! lol. I agree, a must have for any fan at any stage of fandom, and such a good idea too - wish I had thought of it!

I got this book out of a library a few years ago. It's a very good guide to the songs.

I own this book, it's really a great source for each Beatle's song. I like to read from time to time or when I'm listening a Beatle's album.

I got it this summer incidently. My parents and I were in this town called Bracebridge which is a couple hours north of toronto, and we were walking down the street and there was this store that made me skid completely to a halt because in the window they had some old beatles records, and then right beside it some beatles books. I went in and there was another table with more beatle records and a few more books, and the records were only 15 bucks each!!! I nearly bought them but my dads like " What's the point we don't even have a record player!" And I was like " Just for the sake of having them!" and he's like " That isn't a very good reason" and I'm like " Yeah... well if SOMEBODY hadn't THROWN OUT THEIR RECORDS!!" Well in the end I didn't buy the records but my dad got me a Hard Days Write as an early birthday present....
It's a great book!! And it's interesting to see some of their opinions of the songs they wrote, and the stories behind them!!

That's a different cover than mine, so maybe. I don't know what else they would add, though...
