Who sang "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" for the Beatles and why?

During the filming Magical Mystery Tour in 1967 -Shirley Evans led the coach party with a number of singalong songs including Toot Toot Tootsie, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, When The Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along and the Can Can.

True but Shirley didn't sing, she played the accordion for the others to sing along as you said yourself.
I'm looking for someone who sang this song in very specific circumstances.

Considering that all had some Irish heiritage, that had be fitting to hear that song. I read rumors that Ringo's mom was part Jewish, and that George Martin was also part Jewish? Does anyone know if that is true?

Alistair Taylor

Paul McCartney took Alistair to the photo studio on April 19th 1968, had him sit on a stool and sing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling". The resulting photo appeared in the paper over an advertisement for unsigned bands, writers and poets to send their demo tapes anf manuscripts to Apple.
