Default Abbey Road DLC (Your Thoughts...)

I went out today and bought an xBox/Microsoft points card today and came home to purchase the Abbey Road DLC. While the game is absolutely phenomenal by itself, 45 tracks isn't enough to keep one playing forever (although I've played a little everyday since the release).

When you enter the games' music store you will see that you can buy the album pack or just three single songs (Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh Darling, Because). BUY THE ALBUM PACK if you have the money. If not, wait until you do. You can NOT play any of the tracks from "You Never Give Me Your Money" through "Carry That Weight" otherwise.

After downloading it to the game, I went to quickplay and selected Abbey Road as an album. Everything plays as it should, or so it seems, with all new dreamscapes for the new songs. Once you get to the medley it plays like one big 15 minute track, non-stop, which makes for lots of fun

One little extra feature is that after you play "The End" in the medley, "Her Majesty" kicks up, w/ Paul just playing his acoustic, in the studio, alone. The end of "Her Majesty" is not cut off like on the album, but lets that final note hang in there till it's through.

It's well worth the $17/1360 Microsoft Points and now I'm EXTREMELY EXCITED to get more DLC! As soon as info re: the release date for next month's Sgt. Pepper DLC comes out, I'll let y'all know. In the mean time, did anyone else get the DLC today, and if so, what did you think?

I'm getting it today but I just have one question. I have a code card from GameStop for 3 free songs. Those 3 songs being Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh Darling, and Because. However, I want to buy the whole pack so would the prize of that be reduced because I would already have the 3 songs?

Unfortunately this is a horrible pack to use your free songs card on. It WILL NOT reduce the price of the entire album AND if you get those three songs separately from the album and then download the album, you will have two of Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh Darling, and Because on your tracklist in the game.

For anyone who plans to purchase entire albums as DLC in this game, those cards are pretty much worthless because it's always cheaper to buy an entire album than to purchase all of the songs individually. It could prove it's worth if they start releasing singles as separate downloads, pending that you can use the card on those. Either Gamestop poorly planned that marketing effort or they planned it perfectly to "entice" purchasing from them.

EDIT... Unless you have a Wii, in which case you can't purchase the one big long medley track, instead getting it broken down as follows:
"You Never Give Me Your Money"
"Sun King"/ "Mean Mr. Mustard" (Together as one track)
"Polythene Pam"/ "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window" (Together as one track)
"Golden Slumbers"/ "Carry That Weight"/ "The End" (Together as one track)
"Her Majesty"

The free track cards would be very useful for Wii owners on this album.

For those who have a PS3, is the DC already avaliable for you? Not for me...

OK, according to this topic on the Rock Band forums, the PS3 DC it's not avaliable for Europe and Australia, at least for now.

Like the guy who made the question, I was having a parental control message, but that wasn't the problem, because both my daddy and my mommy let me play the game

I downloaded it on Thursday... it's amazing! I've already done the whole "create a setlist" thing where I played the whole album... it's pretty amazing! I can't wait to get my girlfriends over so we can relive our school choir days singing "Because"!!!

I'm still waiting for GameStop to send our code so that we can get two of our free downloads. Two of the songs that we picked are from Abbey Road.

Been playing all week, it's so much fun! Her Majesty guitar on expert is a little tough!
