Anthology Banned in Singapore
According to Abbeyrd's newspage, the Anthology DVDs have been banned in Sinagpore. Apparently all CDs and movies are subject to censorship and it will only be relased in modified form (without the "offensive" bits).

Re: Anthology Banned in Singapore
This is very sad, the thought of people being deprived of the Beatles' Anthology.

Re: Anthology Banned in Singapore
Maybe it's the drug references that they're concerned about?

Re: Anthology Banned in Singapore
They're weird in Singapore, they have all these laws that are harshly restrictive -- you can get arrested for having a piece of chewing gum on your person in Singapore, let alone actually CHEWING it!
This doesn't surprise me, it is a very restrictive society. Probably the drug reference and the sexual innuendo/references wouldn't pass muster by their censors...sigh...

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">You've figured it out, Sus--it's probably the CHEWING GUM references, if there's a clip in there from the Paul-shrinking scene in Help!
"Is it habit forming?" "No...as long as you don't swallow it."

Re: Anthology Banned in Singapore
I can say to you that I am from Asia, and i felt bad too to know that Singapore banned our 4 Nice Lads's Anthology.
Singapore is a very Strict Country! Rules and many Rules to obey, or else!
What our Lads did wrong? (Sex, Drugs and R&R?)

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">If they're that restrictive- the 10 hours the rest of the world got to see will be edited down to about 10 minutes. There are quite a few "gum chewing" references... almost everything after 1966 would be out * uh oh.
BTW, this is a little off topic but why would you get arrested for having a piece of chewing gum?!? or did i just miss the sarcasm?

Remember this is the place where a few years ago, they sentenced an American kid to a "caning" (being beaten with a bamboo cane) because he wrote some graffiti as a prank...

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Absolutely off-off topic here, but how rude! Did the kid actually got canned?

Chewing gum is not allowed in Singapore, and to even have an unchewed pack on your person is apparently an offense for which you can be arrested.

It is a very restrictive place, apparently -- and that must be why they want to censor the Anthology. All those drug and sexual references!
