The Beatles are the Pride of Liverpool and have literally made Liverpool a place of interest. What an honor to live in a city that is always associated with the Beatles!

A neighborhood is its people. We have good and bad mixed into every neighborhood, even in Brentwood and Beverly Hills. People have more commonalities than they do differences. I just meant that Ringo had a hard way to go growing up and I read what he had to say in "Anthology."
Well said, Andalucia and I can't improve on perfection. I do think Ringo stepped on a lot of toes with his remark and he had to know that it would undoubtedly rile people. I hope he does issue a public apology and recognize that Liverpool is what made him, in a large manner of speaking. Liverpool IS bigger than Ringo not the other way around as you said. I'm sure that many people also took umbrage in his song "The Other Side of Liverpool" wherein he calls the city "cold and damp." There are many positive attributes that he seems to have overlooked.

That song is about his troubled childhood growing up in a dangerous and poor area of Liverpool. It has nothing to do with Liverpool today.
If you listen to the song Liverpool 8, then you'll know Ringo is proud to be from Liverpool.

"One of Ringo's great qualities was that he composed unique, stylistic drum parts for The Beatles songs. His parts are so signature to the songs that you can listen to a Ringo drum part without the rest of the music and still identify the song." -Steve Smith
"He (Pete Best) was doing OK, but if you compare it to Ringo, he just did not have that swing. He just did not have that rock. He just didn't." -Klaus Voormann

"Liverpool 8" is a wonderful song. I know TOSOL does not apply to current Liverpool.
