Tiresome tabloid fare...don't just take it with a grain of salt, take it with a truckload of salt!

This may have already been commented on... I have only skimmed through the replies in this topic, but in one of the above articles is says...:"

"Paul and first wife Linda barely spent a night apart in nearly 30 years of marriage. But Paul and Heather have been apart ALL this week"

Now I think thats kind of ridiculous to bring that up. Firstly, all relationships are different. So to comapre the fact that Paul and Linda spent ony a night apart, with the fact the Paul and Heather have spent more apart is ridiculous. It's almost as if they expecting Paul's relationship with Heather to be the same as the relationship with Linda, and with the same circumstances. I think thats just dumb.

Hopefully all is well with Paul and Heather. As it's been said, tableoids are tableoids, so hopefully there is no truth to these articles.

Well, I certainly hope the rumors aren't true. Divorce between any couple is hard enough, but I've got a sneaky feeling that a Paul-and-Heather split would be pretty ugly.

Whatever the case may be, I wish them both well...and double that for little Beatrice.

Well, looks like the story has been picked up by the Mirror AND the Sun. Admittedly, they're tabloids too, but once this many media outlets are on to the story, it has, as my husband says, "legs." Which means it has a life of its own regardless, but if there was nothing to this at all, this story would not have developed "legs" this strong this fast.

I sincerely hope that these rumors do not turn out to be true for Paul's sake, and for the sake of the child -- because as Mona said, a Paul-Heather split will be ugly, mostly because there's no prenuptial agreement and I can imagine her milking him for every penny. (Sorry to those who like her, but I have never quite trusted her or her motives.) Then again, if someone as wealthy and famous as Paul is stupid enough to get married to a woman with a history of being a suspected golddigger and alleged pathological liar without an agreement to protect his ass...ets, well, he's done this to himself. (NO, I am not saying she IS either of those things. So don't leap on me for "bashing" her. I'm just saying that these were the things people said about her when he took up with her, whether they are true or not. I know Paul wants to believe the best of people, and I can't blame him, but when you're worth as much as he is, you'd think a prenup would be de rigeur...)

I was watching nbc 4 news when they mentioned about the rumors of paul split. I hope that this is not true. Because they have a kid to raise and with the rumors of split the kid will be devasted.

I have heard primetime networks quote the National Enquirer. So... I don't know about these other scandal sheets... Personally I was sick to hear "even" a rumor. He's had enough "rain" in his life and I want him to be happy. I hope it's not true, and if it is, I hope that it's not going to be a press junket. Poor dear. I love you Paul! ((HUG))

Well, Heather has...but as far as I know, Sir McCartney hasn't said a word on the subject.

No, I haven't read any response from him, but then again, everybody blasted him a new one last time he responded to the tabloids, so maybe he's decided that the best thing to do is keep quiet.

As I've said before, if it's true, it'll come out soon enough via the legitimate press and until then I'll respect Paul and Heather's privacy and not speculate as to the truth or lack thereof of the rumors.

...why would he spend so much time alone in other countries (certainly NOT for promo-touring) just at the very moment when his wife is ill and has to recover from a serious operation? Why doesn´t he at least take the baby and allows her to recover fully?
There definitely IS something to the rumours, friends. It´s just not Paul´s habit, not his conception of family values, taking trips alone while his wife is in a wheelchair and NEEDS help more than ever. Finally it shows if all the "nasty" things that have been said about her are true or not. I´ve been waiting long for Paul to wake up.
They say they had fights over his fame and Heather being treated so badly - he always made it sound as if that was something Linda has gone through and that made Heather even more like her - Paul, I really feel sorry for you. This is so very different from the situation in the 70ies (when Heather wasn´t even born yet) as can be.
She obviously has difficulties in accepting why Paul´s so famous - the Beatles?! Well, heard of them - but she likes ACDC better. Right... She hasn´t even been born when he had the Beatles and Wings and Linda - everything that an "old" man like he can look back at. (Yeah, I know, he´s not old, bla. You know what I mean. When a bloke starts to look back. )
How can she understand? When he plays some tunes on the piano that would have given him and Linda memories she doesn´t even recognise it - he said that himself, making it sound as if it was sort of charming. I think it´s sad.
Now it seems to show that they´re just too different, she with her strange, still not proved right stories about her past living in the streets, and he having shared all his past with Linda, not to mention their age difference and their different taste in music and that his oh so dear children don´t get along with her. That must show some day.
She´s always "Wife of Paul McCartney", and now even that´s not enough for her. I remember her complaints about being married to him, that she would rather want a normal life, that her life before was so much better without him - I just couldn´t believe my ears and eyes. But that was her interviews, her words. Then her complaints about being a full-time Mum, her baby bothering whenever she wants to have time for herself - what the hell is wrong with that woman?
Paul must have noticed that a pretty blond head does not make her like Linda. She has sort of a jet-set life, several nannies for her baby, always shows in the headlines with how much she doesn´t want to be in the headlines - I sometimes think she´s calling The Sun and The Mirror to tell them how little she wants to be in the headlines and asks if they can write about that.
She contradicts herself way too often - I can´t feel sympathy for her anymore. I dislike what she made of Paul and that she´s dragging him in the headlines with her - I never had to look in the tabloid pages to find something about Paul, I read the Rolling Stone. Now for five long years I can´t even pass by the tabloids in the shelf without having him on the front page.

Here's a snippet from Paul's official spokesperson. (The article's a bit longer, you can read the whole thing here if you want.)

Again, it's tabloid, so make of it what you will.

Sir Paul McCartney Heading For Expensive Divorce?
By: Chris Taylor on 5/14/2006

Fears for Sir Paul McCartney’s marriage have increased after he failed to return to his wife’s side after a solo holiday to France.

Reports of a massive rift in the former Beatles’ marriage to charity campaigner Heather Mills surfaced last weekend, when it emerged the pair were living apart after suffering a series of rows.

Now McCartney’s spokesperson has added fuel to the flames of speculation after failing to confirm the couple have reunited following his return from his trip to France on Friday.

The spokesperson stuttered to the Mail On Sunday, “I don't think they are with each other. I know he is back in the UK but whether they are together now or whether they have seen each other I don't know. I don't think they are.

“No one is saying anything and I am finding it pretty difficult to get any information. They could be together but they could not be."

What a great job it must be, being a spokesperson...
Shouldn't they be instructed what to say to the press, especially when there's rumours going round?

Actually, Heather was probably cutting her first baby teeth when Paul married Linda in '69. I agree with much of what you and Nipper has said. I always wondered what the heck these two people could possibly have in common to be joined in matrimonial union. He's very much a down-to-earth hippie vegan while she is very much the Park Avenue type. Sure, opposites *do* attract sometimes. But when she said that she didn't know *who* Paul was or even who the Beatles were when she first met him, I couldn't believe my bleepin' ears! Had she been living in a cave the whole time? Initially, I had trouble accepting her intentions and like many, thought of her as a gold-digger (considering her previous failed engagements to other wealthy men). But as time wore on, I accepted that she must be making him happy, in some way. And that's more important than my gut feeling, I suppose.

I rarely believe anybody in western civilization over 30 who says they don't know anything about the Beatles, especially a "media" person. They would have to be living in an extremely isolated society.

Okay, I have to speak up, because some of you all are posting very ridiculous and WRONG comments, and I don't want anyone lurking to believe some of what you all are saying. Some of you have a knack for completely inventing things that never came out of Heather's mouth just to make her look bad. You all are too wrapped in your image of Paul as the mythical perfect Beatle, that's the only myth making I see going on (and turning Linda into a saint).

Quote:
Then her complaints about being a full-time Mum, her baby bothering whenever she wants to have time for herself - what the hell is wrong with that woman?
You should be ashamed of yourself. What the hell is wrong with YOU? She made a joke to an interviewer that she answered emails alone "which is a change, because usually my baby is crawling on my lap and hitting all the wrong buttons." You're the one who turned that into a nasty thing because you don't like her and buy into the myth of Paul.

I had to laugh at the above "Heather is too Park Avenue" comment, too. Heather is British, grew up poor, and at various points lived in a children's home or on the streets. You know who actually DID grow up on Park Avenue? Linda! Her family had an apartment on Park Avenue in addition to their house in the Hamptons.

Here's a comment from Paul on the fight he and Linda had the night before they were married:

"We were crazy. We had a big argument the night before we got married and it was nearly called off. We were very up and down, quite funky compared to the eventual image of 'Twenty-five years of married bliss! Aren't they lucky for people in showbiz?' But we are. You get this picture of us swanning along in a little rowboat managing to avoid the white water, but we were right in the middle of that white water, man, so it's even more miraculous that we made it. But we did."

He always emphasized how he and Linda argued and had many problems in their marriage. In Vanity Fair in 1993 he said, "At any point in the last 24 years you would've looked at us and said, They might not last." To which Linda said, "We STILL might not last." She wasn't joking and the interviewer clarified just to make sure.

But fans are now spouting crap about how Paul and Linda were perfect, never argued, were never apart, and it's entirely unlike Paul to get mad and run off after an argument, even though he did at least once in the 70's and by his own admission did it the night before his and Linda's wedding. The Daily Mail article today in particular was disgusting, going on and on about how Paul is kind, caring, gentle, perfect in every way, doesn't have a temper, is brilliant, etc. but Heather is an evil hussy who has a temper and starts arguments and yells, etc. This is the same tabloid who a few months ago was excerpting the Sandford book and calling Paul a manwhore, an egomaniac, a terror of a boss, and cheap.

ATA: I forgot to add that the people saying Heather didn't know who the Beatles were are the ones who are lying, not Heather. She NEVER said that. She said she wasn't a big fan of the Beatles and didn't know much about them, and there's a difference. Just because you all are obsessed with the band doesn't mean every other person has to be. Her exact quote when interviewed by Barbara Walters five years ago, when asked if she was a Beatles fan was, "Not really. I liked Wings." I find it funny that those who accuse her or lying of stretching the truth are actually the ones doing that themselves. I'm not a fan of Yoko's, but people did the same thing with her. Fans still repeat over and over that Yoko claimed she had never heard of the Beatles before she met John. But if you actually go and look at the original source, what Yoko said is that she wasn't really into the Beatles because it wasn't her type of music and pop music wasn't big in the circles she hung out in. But because Beatles fans can't accept that others' lives don't revolve around the band, that turned into, "Let's call her a liar over something she never said."
