Anyway I've been meaning to listen to some of her music also. My music collection needs a cd by a good female artist, and she might be it.

I think she's a really talented musician. Her soul voice is brilliant. She's probably the best British female artist around at the moment.

She backed out of being the musical guest on the SNL premiere. Lame.

I don't like her Rehab song. As for her drinking, I don't care about that. It's her life and it's not like she's dragging kids down with her *cough*Britney Spears*cough*

Drinking? It's a little more than just booze she's been on. She had about a million different drugs in her system when she went into rehab the other week. Yeah it is her life BUT still, not too good at her tender years.

I agree with Clark Kent, her soul voice is brilliant, so if you like the smokey soul soound, you will love Amy.

I find "Rehab" the weakest song on that album.

Looks like Amy still has some lingering issues as she reacts harshly to her audience detractors.

Amy Winehouse Threatens Booing Fans At Concert

BIRMINGHAM, England (November 15, 2007) – Amy Winehouse returned to the stage in her first performance since her husband’s, Blake Fielder-Civil, arrest, delivering a debacle of a performance.

Amy took the stage in a silver top, short black skirt and her trademark beehive. She made it through three of her hits — “Back to Black,” “Tears Dry on Their Own” and “Rehab” — before the trouble started, according to a report by the BBC.

The singer slurred her words and wobbled around the stage during her set.

Though currently in a London prison awaiting trial on charges of witness tampering and assaulting a pub landlord, Amy’s husband was on her mind. She dedicated her song “Wake Up Alone” to him, saying, ” This is for my husband.”

Amy, who has recently cancelled shows and appeared intoxicated on stage, saw no love from the crowd.

As concertgoers began to boo Amy and leave the venue, she lashed back at the disgruntled crowd.

“To them people booing, wait ‘til my husband gets out of incarceration. And I mean that,” the singer announced from the stage, according to reports.
During her final number, a cover of The Zutons’ “Valerie,” Amy stopped singing during the middle of the song, dropped the microphone, and left the stage.

Amy’s spokesman told the BBC, the singer had a difficult day on Wednesday after visiting her husband in prison for the first time.

He added, it was Amy’s decision to go on, saying, she wanted to perform for the people who had paid to see her.

Amy’s opening act, Remi Nicole, has devised a plan for any future Amy performance debacles.

“I have learnt all the songs on the ‘Back to Black’ album so if she does need me to stand in, I can don a beehive and go ahead,” Remi told the BBC.

One fan at the concert told the BBC, “When [Amy] did sing she sounded phenomenal but she was not ready to be up on that stage. She was so weak, so vulnerable.”

I think it was good of her to go on despite the upset with her hubby BUT maybe it wasn't the best idea if she wasn't able to hold herself together.

She is so troubled, poor girl.

If Rehab is the weakest song then I simply must purchase her 'Back to Black' CD.

I agree. I bought the album a few months ago. It is a really great CD. Very soulful. Rehab is a good song, however it has been played over and over and over again. One can get sick of it after a while.

I don't really care what she does in her personal life, how much she drinks, or how many drugs have been in her system at one time. I think that she has a great voice, and her music is wonderful!

Of the non-singles on the album, "Love is a Losing Game" is a great tune, like a lost treasure from another era.

Does she write her own songs?

Yes she does. Some of them are co-written but most are just her, words and music. I liked her album very much, it's pleasant, soulful and intense. "Back to Black", "Love Is a Losing Game" and "You Know I'm No Good" are fantastic songs which obviously try to recover some magic of the good golden years of soul music... and the sound of the album takes you to that magic.

I love "Rehab", as well...

I think she's one of the most interesting artists that have come out lately.

I agree, she just made quite some mistakes and probably was not always round the 'right' people... then... our guys also have a bit of history on that field and if you compare 2007 to the 60's well... let's just hope she finds the right path again..she's very talented musically

Her CD is one of the best I've heard in years. It appeals to many different people too. Very creative indeed.

I hope she gets through the mess she is in, its not often that somebody with her talent comes along, would be tragic to lose her.

Amy was dropped by the James Bond producers. They were sounding her out to sing the theme song for the next Bond film but they decided not to take up the option because of her lifestyle. It's a shame because she'd have been a perfect singer of a Bond song. Listen to "Back to Black". It could fit perfectly in as a Bond song.

I have often thought of her sound as having a lot of Shirley Bassey ("Goldfinger" among other Bond themes) in it.

Another figure she invites some comparison to is Janis Joplin, both the good and the bad. Let's hope she can avoid that fate.

She does seem unreliable. They most likely wanted to be sure they get someone who doesn't flake out at the last minute.

Ever noticed how close the Horn riff on Rehab is to the Horn riff on Jools's / George's Horse To The Water...
