Default Beatles 1964 Hammersmith Odeon Christmas Show Poster

Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate any assistance that can be given in identifying a poster I have in my collection (opinions as well)

Several years ago I purchased 4 Art posters that were each mounted on a stiff cardboard backing. The posters were an item in an estate auction held in the U.S.A.*

One of the posters was The Beatles 1964 ‎Hammersmith Odeon Christmas Show poster. The poster is a large landscape orientated print measuring almost 30" x 40".

I have examined the poster and can find no evidence it has been digitally printed or computer generated. Both the poster and backing card appear to have an age about them. I would say the item was printed well before the recent spate of fake and reproduction posters have flooded the market.

The poster appears to have a top coating on it that almost makes it look like a giant photocopy? Although this seems unlikely based on the size of the image. When you look at the poster you can see vertical crease/fold lines on the image.*

At two of the edges the top paper is separating from the backing cardboard however a layer of the cardboard is still on the poster.

So was a large landscape poster 30" x 40" created to promote this show in 1964?

Has anyone seen ‎anything like this poster?

Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Thanks, Len‎

Interesting a fellow collector told me that to his knowledge this particular size 30" x 40" has not been reproduced or faked. This size was used as an outdoor promotion item and were produced in larger quantities than the indoor lobby card style.

Thanks for the reply. I have not seen this size as a reproduction however I was told it has been reproduced. I spoke with Tony Booth who did the original artwork for Brian Epstein and he told me this was a letter press printing as opposed to a silk screen printing. This may account for the photocopy effect or perhaps this size was photo typeset which was also done at that time.
