number of Beatle Albums
I was just wondering how many "official" Beatle albums are there? I'm thinking only about albums released while the Beatles were still together (studio albums). If you count "magical mystery tour" and "yellow submarine" then the answer is 13. But do these 2 albums count as full fledged Beatle studio releases or are they just extended EP's?

Re: number of Beatle Albums
Alright, but on CD, and reissued by Capitol you have 13 studio albums:
Please Please Me
With The Beatles
A Hard Day's Night - OST
Beatles For Sale
Help! - OST
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Magical Mystery Tour
The Beatles (double CD set)
Yellow Submarine - OST
Abbey Road
Let It Be
plus the two "Past Masters" CDs, on which they say "if you have the other 13 CDs and these two you have everything that The Beatles commercially released". I think the rest of it are the Anthology series (3 double CDs), "Live At The BBC" (1 double CD) and compilations (Red and Blue albums, Yellow Submarine Songtrack, 1, etc...)

I have over 100 different Beatle albums, including solos, foreign pressings, color vinals, pix disks, not to mention a few bootlegs.

Well, those collections of yours, Joe and Bearkat, sound amazing. But about the songs and their respective variation and different versions, they say we (only with CD) should be done with the "Past Masters" and the other 13 CDs... But I also know that there are albums like "Live At The Hollywood Bowl", "The Early Beatles" and my always-wanted "Rarities" that haven't come out on CD... Do you have them?

Yes, I do have all of these on vinyl. The "Rarities" LP is really good. I've got both versions, the US and UK ones.

Re: number of Beatle Albums
I'm saying if you asked a beatle how many records he made as a beatle in the U.K. what number would he say (13?).

Re: number of Beatle Albums
This is the list that I have come up with for the Beatles to actually have been recorded in the studio between 1963-1970:
1. Please Please Me (Mar. 22, 1963)
2. With The Beatles (Nov. 22, 1963)
3. The Beatles' First (June 19, 1964)*
4. A Hard Day's Night (July 10, 1964)
5. Beatles For Sale (Dec. 4, 1964)
6. Help! (Aug. 6, 1965)
7. Rubber Soul (Dec. 3, 1965)
8. Revolver (Aug. 5, 1966)
9. A Collection Of Beatles Oldies (Dec. 10, 1966)*
10. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (June 1, 1967)
11. The Beatles (Nov. 22, 1968)
12. Yellow Submarine (Jan. 17, 1969)
13. Abbey Road (Sept. 26, 1969)
14. Let It Be (May 8, 1970)
*NOTE: The Beatles' First was their work with Tony Sheridan and the first time the entire Beatles/Sheridan archive was released on one record.
A Collection Of Beatles Oldies was a compilation of studio releases and may or may not be counted.
So we are looking at 13, maybe 14, actual albums.

Re: number of Beatle Albums
There were only 12 albums the Beatles went to the studio to record as Beatle albums... Their work with Sheridan was mostly back-up, and the Oldies album was culled from different recording sessions. Over here in America, we had more albums, but that is because the US producers shortened the album listings, and married their shortened lists to single releases to turn out over 1 1/2 albums per official studio album...

They US LPs and mixes are easily found on CD in the "under-the-table" market.
I wish they would make legitamate versions of these, with the US mixes.

Re: number of Beatle Albums
Or a "Rarities" CD should be issued, with all the songs that sound different in their US mix... like the extra verse on "I'll Cry Instead", the different ending to "Helter Skelter" and a version with a longer intro to "And I Love Her", the false start to "I'm Looking Through You", the prominent backwards guitar on "I'm Only Sleeping".
Those should just stop being "Rarities"

Actually, "And I Love Her" has a longer ending and "I'm Only Sleeping" has some verses rearranged. A complete library of their US LPs should be released on CD. I think it's only fair.

Re: number of Beatle Albums
The american LP's are scams in my book. The beatles disagreed with the idea and so do I. However it would be nice to see them release an album of all the different versions that you find on the american records.
The only american LP I found as good as it's british counter part was Rubber Soul, just because I like the running order and song selection better than the british version. But this is the extreme exception.

Maybe a special edition with 2 albums in 1 CD (?) could be made... or just a selection of the most rare songs should be compiled on a box, or something like that...
But those are just dreams. Thank you for clarifying those things about the songs... I've only read about them, never heard them, though.
