I was rooting for Germany so I was disappointed that they lost. But VIVA ESPANA!! Spain deserved their victory and it's about time they won a title. They've got the players and the talent so well done to them. They've shaken off the "underachievers" tag. I look forward to seeing how they do in the World Cup.
Overall it's been a brilliant tournament. There's been great attacking football played by many teams. None of us will ever forget the great Turkish comebacks, or Holland's brilliant play in the first round, or the way Russia sparked into life in the knockout stages. None of the UK countries made it and they weren't missed. It was a fine tournament with plenty of fair play and there were hardly any major controversies. It's been an entertaining three weeks. I hope we see some good football like this in South Africa in 2010 although I doubt it.
Well done Spain.
Tough luck Germany.
Roll on 2010 World Cup.
I'm SO happy... I didn't think they would do it, but there they are. And those bigwigs wouldn't renew the manager's contract, so he's had to look for some other job in Turkey. Now it's he who wouldn't renew it if they asked him. He has some dignity. Luis is the best.

Congratulations to Spain! Their team showed us some really brilliant football playing.
Great tournament it was. A very successful for Russia too so I'm a bit sad it's over.

Why do yo think that? I hope it will be just as good.
Of course referees will be worse, but football should be good.
I just think there's been a general decline in the amount of quality teams in the World Cup, linked to the fact that FIFA want to relentlessly expand the competition. The quality of the football in the European Championship is far better. At the start of Euro 2008 you could have made a plausible argument for about 12 of the 16 teams to be champions. At the World Cup, you know only about 6 or 7 teams have a genuine chance. The World Cup is a great event but in football terms, you shouldn't expect too much from it.

I don't agree. At the world cup you also have around 16 best European sides + Brazil and Argentina. That means even more quality than in EUROs.
