It's not the lyrics that make it fun; its the way they ham up the performance. That funny voice that John uses to sing "Hey Man save one chick for me" still kills me every time.

I didn't mean it as an either/or. A few people mentioned that they didn't like "What Goes On"...I said I liked it and that I didn't care for "Don't Pass Me By". That's all.

I don't think it is an either/or situation. You might like both songs, I may like both songs, someone else will dislike both, and yet another person may prefer one over the other. It's simply a matter of taste.

It's a fun song to listen to, I fully agree. I like listening to it.

Well, if you're forced to find out anything that is non dull in the song.

Why the Beatles anyway performed that song? It probably saved them from signing up with Decca.

Wow. I don't think I can agree with any of you!

Anyway, you cannot really discuss taste, but here are a few songs I dislike...(most of these are not Beatles songs I know - I just don't like 'em...)

1) A Taste Of Honey
2) Mr. Moonlight (the only good thing is John's 'scream' at the beginning)
3) Anna (Go To Him)
4) Baby's In Black
5) I'm Happy Just To Dance With You
6) This Boy
7) Wait
8) Act Naturally
9) Words Of Love
10) Honey Don't

For me, the only song the Beatles recorded that I have trouble listening to is "Yes It Is". I can't really get through this song without wrenching for some odd reason.

I think that the worst songs are:

*Run For Your Life
*A Taste Of Honey
*You Know My Name
*Maxwell Silver Hammer
*Revolution 9

When I listened to Revolution 9 the first time, I couldn't believe that it was a song by John, in fact, I think it isn't a song!!

I never thought that Run For Your Life could possibly be in any "Worst of" lists. I know John dismissed later on but there's no denying that it's a great song. It has a good progression, arrangement, melody and lyrical wise, it could be much more brutal.

I agree whole-heartedly with this...can't even say the lyrics are outdated, considering what lyrics of today say.

Me too. I have no tolerance for violence against women, but if we are going to subject songs to behavioral or ideological litmus tests to decide if they are good or not then we are in for a whole heap of trouble. I am much more disturbed by actual violence than by songs about violence. Anyone here ever listen to any Johnny Cash? Do you think anyone ever shot a man in Reno on account of Folsom Prison Blues? I don't. It seems highly unlikely that anyone ever suffered physical (or even emotional) harm on account of "Run for Your Life." That's like blaming the third verse of "Piggies" for the Manson murders.

Definately agree. Tame compared to some rap or hip hop songs of today. I also think this is one of their catchiest melodies.

Well, this was easy for me.

For some reason, I just can't stand Why Don't We Do It In The Road
I don't know why exactly. It just appears in the white album. Unsuspectingly.
Annoyingly.

But, thankfully, it's so short and then you can move on to I Will and Julia. Whew!

The only real Beatle song, besides Revolution #9 , I dislike is Don't Let Me Down. Everytime I listen to it, I just realize how bored I am and disinterested in the song.

When I was younger I loathed "Revolution #9", but when I hear Sgt. Peppers nowadays I like to listen through it.
It's like meeting an old friend now.
(Some old friends have this annoying way of repeating themselves too, you know?)

But there is one song I really can't endure: "Long and Winding Road" in the Brian Eno version on "Let It Be".
(It's much better on the Anthology, but still whiny and full of self-pity. I always think: "Just let him go, Paul!")

I know it's considered a masterful art piece by some but to be honest, I don't think I've ever been able to listen to Within You Without You from beginning to end.

I used to not when I was younger, I find it beautifully
mesmerizing now, all the string instruments.

The worst EVER is "Mr. Moonlight."
Why did they do it, WHY??
