Didn't they do it on their own?

Re: Two Virgins
Correct Penny! A shiny toffee wrapper for you.
I've seen a copy of Two Virgins and although I wasn't surprised that John would do that, it was a bit over the top, but at least it stood out from the rest, and that makes a good album cover.
Come on Britney Spears, learn from Lennon!

I have no desire to look at it, but it doesn't offend me or anything.

Re: Two Virgins
I agree that it was so John. LOL I heard Aunt Mimi said they should have used people with good bodies on the cover. I think if the cover had been done in the 90's, there wouldn't have been such a big deal about it.

Re: Two Virgins
I have a copy of it on my record cabinet. It was way out there for its time.
Go to the Trivia Forum for my continuation of this.

Re: Two Virgins
this/that is right. If it had been done a few decades later, who would care? That's what you younger fans have to bear in mind. You're looking at everything the Beatles did in hindsight, so you can never really feel the full impact their actions had. Regarding the Jesus comment, you cannot appreciate how much controversy it stirred. People were LIVID! We've since become so accustomed to outrageous behavior and weird personalities that John's observation IS taken as was intended because it's pretty bland by today's standards. It's easy to say that John meant no disrespect if you're only READING about the incident. If you had actually lived through it, you'd have to have given it much more thought. It was a most serious and volatile event when it actually took place.

Re: Two Virgins
Could you imagine of Marilyn Manson or Enimen were back in the 60s? Some people can't even handle them now, but back then, parents would have had heart attacks!

Re: Two Virgins
I agree that no one would mind about the nudity aspect nowadays, but I think that John and Yoko would be slammed in the tabloids for not having "perfect bodies." Nowadays, there is more stress on females to be thin and males to be built that I think that J and Y would be mocked. That is pretty sad, but the way it is.

Re: Two Virgins
I bought it in a drug store (pharmacy) back then. It was in the bin with the cheap albums that didn't sell very well. What a find, I thought. I got it home, took off the brown cover and there were John and Yoko. I thought it was a pretty outrageous statement at the time. But I wasn't really that surprised. It was John.

Re: Two Virgins
It would have been funny if all four of them posed like the back cover of 2 virgins.
