Default Create your own Mary-Sue!!!

Ever wanted to write your own romance, but don't want the hassle that comes with having to be be creative? Then follow this simple generator, and you can have your own personal Mary-Sue heroine in seconds! Adapted from one I found at http://trouillefou.virtualave.net. Good for a laugh!!

1. Pick a first name:
- Julia
- Paulina
- Angelia
- Kayla
- Ashlee
- Clarity
- Tiffany
- Laurie (because that was the name in that other, good Beatles fan fic, and no one will notice if you "borrow" it...)

2. VERY important-pick a middle name. Remember, you will use this name EVERY time the character introduces herself.
- Krystal
- Gabriella
- Monique
- Felicity
- Giselle
- Sophia

3. One more. Last name?
- Haven
- LeCroix
- LaCoeur
- Rigby
- Ravenswing
- Hannigan-Smythe

4. What do her eyes look like?
- swirling mahogany
- smoky winter sky
- piercing violet
- starry emerald
- crystalline blue
- sparkling amber

5. And what about her hair?
- silky raven
- luxurious flaxen gold
- ripe chestnut
- shadowed mahogany
- fiery auburn
- burnished bronze

6. Exactly who is she?
- John's long-lost cousin
- Paul's ex-girlfriend
- Jane Asher's best friend
- Stu's art-school rival
- Brian Epstein's assistant
- The Beatles' biggest fan ever!!!

7. How does she meet the Beatles?
- She goes back in time.
- She bumps into them at the airport
- She auditions for the band.
- She is picked out of the crowd at a Beatles' concert.
- She waits on them at a bar/restaurant/lounge.
- She is already your favorite Beatle's (herein referred to as Beatle X) girlfriend.

8. Which of these hobbies/ traits manages to capture the heart of Beatle X? Choose one, two, or all of them, as many you want!
- Incredible singing voice
- Graceful dancer
- Unbelievable empathy
- An adorable disregard for authority
- A laugh like a "tinkling bell"
- Astounding prowess on several musical instruments
- Gifted artist
- Amazing athletic ability
- Unnaturally hilarious sense of humor
- A raxor-sharp wit

9. Beatle X falls madly in love with her, but there's a "problem". What is it?
- She was abandoned as a baby and longs for the family she never knew.
- She left an abusive relationship from which she barely escaped with her life and is afraid to give her heart to another.
- She secretly knows she can't stay with Beatle X, because she is from the future and they are not meant to be together.
- She is overwhelmed with guilt because she was the only survivor of a car crash that killed her entire family.

10. After she and Beatle X have pages and pages of steamy sex, how does your story end?
- She dies in a weeping Beatle X's arms after taking the bullet meant for John.
- She and Beatle X get married and have a "whole bunch" of kids.
- She decides to stay in the past with Beatle X/Beatle X comes with her to the future.
- She tells her children all about the father they never knew, Beatle X.

There. Hundreds of potential stories right at your fingertips! Here's mine:

Tiffany Gabriella LaCoeur is Jane Asher's best friend, a gifted singer, dancer, and artist. She meets the Beatles when she bumps into them at the airport, and George is immediately drawn to her silky raven hair and eyes like a smoky winter sky. Tiffany, however, can't be with George because she is guilty about surviving a car crash that killed her entire family. In the end, after they have pages and pages of steamy sex, Tiffany tells her grown-up children that their long-lost father is really George Harrison.

Wasn't that easy? Anyone can do it!!!

Fantastic! OK, I'm going to use your generator to write my very first Beatles fanfic! Yippee!!!

Angelina Sophia LeCroix is a teenager from present-day San Francisco who is the Beatles' biggest fan ever, especially Paul! One day, she finds a magical talisman in a bag of jelly beans. When she touches it, she is magically transported to 1966, just in time to witness the Beatles' final concert at Candlestick Park. She scores unbelievable seats to the show, and during "Yesterday," Paul spots her and is mesmerized by her starry emerald eyes and fiery auburn hair. He orders Mal Evans to bring her up on stage. She does a few backflips during "Long Tall Sally," and she wins Paul's heart with her amazing athletic ability and unnaturally hilarious sense of humor.

Paul falls madly in love with her, but she secretly knows she can't stay with him, because she is from the future and they are not meant to be together. Besides, then the world would never get to experience the wonder of Linda McCartney's Vegetarian Frozen Dinners.

BUT... after pages and pages of steamy sex, Paul decides to give up everything for Angelina and travels back to present-day San Francisco with her, where he works odd jobs under the name William Campbell. But before they leave, Angelina warns John about his impending murder, convinces George to give up smoking, and shows Ringo the true meaning of Christmas. THE END!

Listen, I still stand by my opinion that SOME Mary Sue stories can be really good, but it all depends on the approach. After all, who HASN'T wished they were the girlfriend of a Beatle or was having steamy sex with said Beatle...(I mean, this mostly pertains to female fans, but you know what I'm getting at...)

Look, I've written a few in my day -- and actually, the story I'm working on now is probably pretty damn close to a Mary Sue...but at least I know how to WRITE, for God's sake!! It CAN be done, and done well, but unfortunately the majority fall into this kind of pathetic category...it's up to those of us who are able to write coherently to do this stuff WELL so we can prove it's not all crap.

Susan-welcome back. Is it appropriate to ask whether you had a good time at a wake...?

Anyway, I'm not knocking all Mary-Sues: just ones that are as crappy as this. I love romances, especially ones featuring John because there aren't too many.

"Clarity Krystal Haven"--isn't that the most disgusting name you've ever heard?

Oh God, MonaMe, YES! I totally agree with you!!!! Completely. I could tell you stories...I used to belong to a fanfic writer's group online and there was one chick there who had no clue...all her stories were FULL of anachronisms (OMG, micro-minis and tank tops to WORK in NINETEEN SIXTY FOUR!!!!???) and her characters always had horrid names like Kayla or Tiffany or stuff like that...also anachronistic...and the were always perfect, yards of glossy red hair and flashing green eyes (ugh!), stuff like that...just nauseating...

Thing is, I TRIED to correct this woman on several occasions, and she decided I was "being mean to her" because her writing teacher in college said she had talent, and what the heck did I know, anyway? I thought this chick was 18, tops...and then I found out she was THIRTY-FIVE!!!!!! OMG, I nearly died...and of course, all the little kidlings on the list gave her feedback like "OOOOOH, that was SOOOOOOO Wonderful!"

Oh, and you'd completely die, she wrote JOHN stories but had NO CLUE...usually, by Chapter Two, John was reduced to a pile of crying noodles for the love of these anachronistic bimboes, she always had a "sensitive John crying his eyes out" scene If you want further discussion on this, lemme know in an email, I'll regale you with a few choice stories!

Anyway, yeah, crap like that REALLY makes me nuts...AAGH!!!!!!

BTW, thanks for the kind wishes and welcome back -- well, we actually DID have a good time this weekend, it was for a sad occasion, but it did bring the whole family together, and that was wonderful. But boy are we gonna miss Uncle Pat...

Welcome back, Susan. You have been sorely missed.

I agree -- not all Mary-Sues are candidates for the toilet or the wastebasket, but IMHO many of them are. My chief complaints are that they tend to be predictable; the protagonist is an idealized version of a human being you just can't identify with or relate to and that trite cliches prop up the story.

However, I have read good romance fiction that was not of the Mary-Sue caliber. I don't mean to suggest all Mary-Sues are good wastebasket material and joke fodder; I have no doubt that some have been well written.

Angel,

Your post was a SCREAM! I'm STILL laughing!

How much do you want to bet Paul wouldn't give Titney the time of day? I think he prefers intelligent women and Titney said in a recent interview that she didn't even know who the Beatles were! I know Titney is a bubble head, but I learned then that she's been living in a bubble.

How about this cool website:

THOWPIESATPOPFADS.COM

Susan, thanks for the warning. It sounds like there aren't any standards or guidelines on the other fan fic site if they will accept anything. Still, I got a good laugh today.
