What did Gloria Steinam say about the Beatles? This should be interesting...

It was an interview with/profile of John, circa 1964...she was not a feminist icon then, just a reporter for Cosmopolitan Magazine. It's hard to describe...but it's interesting stuff..

one more I forgot to mention was the novelization of the movie HELP!. I think it was by Al Hirt'. Captured the wit of the movie dialogue, and was a fun read

I have the novel "Help!" and it does an excellent job of capturing the story on paper.

HMVNipper, thanks for the heads up on the 1964 Lennon-Steinham interview. I would sure love to read that.

I have that! I love it!

My fav is the Complete Idiot's Guide to the Beatles. It has some great info in it.

I also like With The Beatles: Historic Photographs by Dezo Hoffman

Lennon by Ray Coleman

The Beatle Files by Andy Davies

There are 3 others I just bought I can't think of. oh one is a book Imagine: John Lennon. It's basically like the documentary, quotes from it, but a lot of great pictures.

I love Twilight of the Gods. Its absolutely wonderful. He compares the Beatles to the four elements.
John-fire
Paul-wind
George-water
Ringo-earth.
Also lots of things about their music like how the people who study music think about it. Of course, I didnt understand all of that part.

It is beautiful--I do have problems with text over pictures-a bit hard the read the text with the piccie interfering. Plus it ruins nice pictures.

I agree Tim. It makes me feel a bit seasick. I also have problems with the index at the back. It is not quite accurate. I can't give examples but I have found on more than one occasion that what you are looking for is actually on a page before or after the indexed page. Or in some dyslexic fashion the numbers in the wrong order. e.g. Page 129 as page 192. Anyone else had this problem? Other than that it is a good read of course.

I just finished reading it cover to cover. The last few pages were especially interesting to read how the Beatles felt firsthand about the situations around the breakup.
Also I noticed a funny thing. Somewhere toward the end there is a picture of the Two Virgins naked John and Yoko, but there is a naked third person in it. I can't tell who it is. Anybody else notice?

No, my mistake. I mean the picture on page 432 of Lennon by Ray Coleman, which I just got and browsed the pictures. It shows John and Yoko standing in a cluttered spare room in Tittenhurst, and leaning next to them is a poster of the Two Virgins with a 3rd virgin in there that looks like a bearded male.

Hmm... I have the book you're talking about, though it's the (latest) Anniversary Edition with a foreward by Sir George Martin... and there seems to be no such pic in there. I'll see if I can find it elsewhere.

The version that I have (just got it on ebay)is a 1985 first American edition.
Bearkat, that is a good guess. I bet you're right.
