Default Cilla Black dies

http://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainme...cid=ansentap11

I'm not too familiar with her music , but she did do a great version of "Anyone Who Has A Heart. I like Dionne and Luther's versions as well. I know she and the Beatles were great pals back in the day. This has to hit George Martin, Ringo, and Paul pretty hard.

Sir Paul McCartney said she was a "lovely girl who infected everyone with her great spirit. From first meeting her as a cloakroom girl at the Cavern in Liverpool, to seeing her many times since, she always had a fun-loving dignity that made her a great pleasure to be around," he added. "She had a fine distinctive voice and was always a bit of a laugh. It was a privilege to know and love her."

Ringo Starr tweeted on @ringostarrmusic "I just heard the news Cilla black has left us she was a good friend we will all miss her peace to Cilla peace and love to the family R&B xxx"

How sad. In the George Harrison Newsletter, an independent venture published by George's fan club president Pat Kinzer Mancuso (she's the author of Do You Want to Know a Secret? The True Story of the George Harrison Fan Club). Louise Harrison lent her voice to the newsletter and had a regular column. Louise said in her column when asked that she didn't care for Cilla Black's voice at all.

I imagine that Cilla didn't care much for Louise's voice either.

I doubt Cilla ever heard Louise sing.

Yeah. Actually I was joking. Anyway, here's something more interesting from someone who really knew Cilla well.

From Freda Kelly: I am so shocked by the news of Cilla's sudden passing. She was a very bubbly person, very good with people, and she was great on a UK TV programme called 'Blind Date.' One of my favourite memories is of Cilla singing 'Fever.' That was her masterpiece around Liverpool even before Brian Epstein signed her. I also loved her singing 'Love of the Loved' by The Beatles. They used to sing this song at The Cavern.
I knew her from the Cavern Days. Her best friend, called Blonde Pat, was also a good friend of mine. Both of them used to go to Ringo's house often and Blonde Pat was an old girlfriend of Ritchie's. I stay in touch with Pat to this day. I knew Cilla's family well including her mother. The Beatles Press Officer Tony Barrow was Cilla's Press Officer for years. He was an extremely good friend of Cilla and her husband Bobby. My deepest sympathy to all of Cilla's family.

I was joking as well.

How sad about Cilla's passing. She was an important participant in early Beatles' history.

Cilla was an institution in the UK for decades, hosted several tv series as well as recording songs by the Fabs, Burt Bacharach, and others.

Pattie Boyd and Gerry Marsden were among the notables attending her funeral in Liverpool, which ended with "The Long and Winding Road" being played.
