Hey all!

Has someone here know about this book:

"You Never Give me Your Money: The Beatles after the breakup", by Peter Doggett?

I wonder this book is worth reading...

Never read that one, but any Beatles fan worth their salt should read "Liddypool" by David Bedford. :)

"Never Give.." is a good read. I enjoyed it, it obviously takes on the years after the break up and focuses a lot on the business decisions of The Beatles and Apple, which I found interesting as well as the personal relationships between the four. It's written well also.
In conclusion, recommended.

Thumbs up

I read it in the bookstore... lol! But I enjoyed it and decided to wait until it comes out in paperback to snag myself a copy and give it a proper read. The reviews are generally positive and claim that it is well-researched. From my short read, I concur... and I have to add that it seemed pretty balanced and non-biased, didn't favor one Beatle over another.

Cloud... not as romantic as the author had planned. The Date with a Beatle was a quest in 1964 to meet George and the adventure she went through to make it happen.

Oh, it happened alright, but NOT anywhere NEAR what she expected.

It's a study in Beatlemania 101. :)

Actually, I'd call "Date With a Beatle" a wonderful look back at the innocence of the 1960's, and the life and times of a young girl growing up in the USA at that time -- a girl who was obsessed with a member of the Fab Four and began a quest to somehow really meet him. I'd heartily recommend it... very enjoyable book.

We know, Cloud, that you DREAM of George Harrison encounters, you racy person!

Love There That's Sleeping and Simon Leng's book are excellent, high caliber George Harrison biographies.

I wonder this book is worth reading...
The one really cool thing about this book yet to be mentioned is all of the anecdotal info concerning some rather strange requests the group made. I found that really intriguing and insightful. Overall, it's a great read - I'd recommend it!

I read this book this weekend and totally enjoyed it and had to laugh out loud a few times...sometimes at the ludicrous lawsuits that never ended, sometimes at how naive the Beatles were about business and contracts, sometimes at the beyond ridiculous press interviews given by John in the early Yoko years...many which I had never seen before. Friend or foe of John's, it is undeniable that he made a fool of himself many times in interviews and press conferences (to me anyway) and showed a lot of childishness in his choices of business associates, remarks, etc. Also I laughed at how George, when he decided that the film company wasn't fun anymore once it was losing money, send a telegram stating that he quit and everyone was fired, having no idea that it was hardly that simple and instead it involved another round of lawsuits, which eventually forced him to do the Anthology for the money. I don't mean I laughed at George, just at the lack of business knowledge still after decades of being a millionaire, it does strike me as humorous.

Anyway, this book is packed with bits of interviews and info that I had not come across before and I have read tons of Beatles books...also despite the fact that is mostly about the legal messes of Apple, it is really interesting to read, not at all dry and legalese.

What also comes across loud and clear is how the world at large was so reluctant to believe that the Beatles would never reunite, even once John was dead...the mystical power of what the Beatles represented to the world is truly astounding, even now.
