"Tea and light refreshments," reminds me of Hyacinth Bucket!

You know, it amazes that people question how anyone can give a total recall on something from decades earlier. How many people (who don't even write for a living) who lived through the Kennedy assassination, The Challenger Tragedy, or 9/11, can tell you in detail, where they were, who told them, what went on... what they were wearing...conversations, etc....

Writers by nature have that kind of mind to start with - everything is a "could be" adventure.

As for my own work about things in the 60s... we had no computers back then and I was ever-faithful with my diary, so that makes recall even easier. BUT... there will always be certain things I can bring back as if they were yesterday. Don't question so much about something that just 'is what it is' for some of us.

Probably semi-fiction at best.

Ditto to what Judy said.

As for Ms O'Dell, I think she is a credible reporter.

On the other hand, Francie Schwartz, is, I think, just a former groupie with axes to grind. Other members can tell you about her penchant for acting a fool on the rmb fora and her trollery in general. Ms. O'Dell sounds to me like a solid and stable person. I like her. I also liked her book.

Francie Schwartz sounds like she was to the Fabs what Patricia Kenneally was to the Doors--women who made a mountain out of a molehill one-night-stand they had with their respective rock stars.

I believed most of this book except I do believe she slept with George when he wanted her to. She tried very hard to claim she would never do that to Pattie, but I don't believe it, personally.

I don't know...she and Pattie are still good friends. She even contacted me telling me she was going to show Pattie a particular story I had written because she thought Pattie would get a kick out of it. I was thrilled.

I've been in those shoes myself. I've sometimes chozen the friend and sometimes the husband. i've never regretted my decisions each time.

Congratulations, Toy about the story.

I'm glad you made decisions that worked well for you.

Francie and Patricia were cut from the same cloth, I think. I also think they were both tragic figures.

Francie started in early because right after she left, she wrote a story for Rolling Stone called Confessions of an Apple girl.

I read her posts on some message board and that's when I decided I didn't like her. every response she gave to any question or remark (and some were mean to her but not all of them) included a swear word and an obscene reference to a body part like, "You must be small. I don't do minatures."

I know another crazy and terrible person who used the same lines in her online insulting. So I decided Francie was like this person and best to be avoided at all cost. Sure, Paul was rotten to her at times but her nastiness online bordered on an insanity I also had to deal with in that same crazy and terrible person so I couldn't emphathize with her at all.

this is why I like hanging out with nerds in sci-fi fandom. women who enjoy sex are the norm there.
No offense Misfittoy, but why would you love the fact the Beatles went after everything in a skirt? Who knows how many paternity cases and bogus rape charges they may have faced, of course it was covered up to save their image. Not to mention the risk of social diseases. But it's all part of the rock n roll lifestyle. Let's be fair. they weren't the only music groups acting like that, they all did back then. Most anyway. Still do today.

because there are those of us who like sex and see it as an important part of our lives and not just the way the Puritans believe it should be.
I know that I am a healthier person due to my expression of my sexuality.

After the sexual revolution with the pill we had the feminist movement reminding guys that sex wasn't all about just them (as it always is in every culture) and that they better make sure it's good for the woman as well. (Note: Women not girls) It's up to the women to educate, teach and change a man's views on their sexuality.

Female sexuality is still frowned upon unless it's either lesbians being lesbians for a man's pleasure or closed only to lesbians. But there's more to female sexuality then that. (The bible doesn't even forbid lesbianism anywhere. only men with men). the Japanese have an idea with their slash bookstores for women.

Yes, there is such a thing as responsible sexuality. COmplete with birth control for those who have sex acts that might lead to pregancy (not all of them do) and disease prevention plus medical treatment.

As for rape charges and unwanted pregnancy...that's what happens when you DON'T have sex education. a complete sex education.

The sexuality of the Beatles is a part of the Beatles. It was a large draw along with the music. and it wasn't all bad. Some girls recall their affairs fondly.

I agree with your philosophy to some extent, although I am prudish by nature. I agree young people should not be thought sex is dirty, it's the reason we are here. But it should be conducted with common sense. Yeah I'm sure those women will carry fond memories of their flings with the Beatles until they die.
