Default Paul/Wings Box set ?

I see some posts around the web about a Studio box set --covering the years 1970-98.

One article says this:

A U.K. Source close to M.P.L. has stated that the Paul Mccartney and Wings boxset may be released this fall or Christmas. Possible inclusions could be the basic track for C moon and Beware my love instrumental. It was scrapped in 2001 for reasons unknown.

I do not know how reliable this is so don't shoot me if this is just a rumour. It would be mighty interesting though, does anyone here have some info on this?

I was reading about this on the bootlegzone.
However it wasn't clear to me wheter it were just rumours and how official it was.

Good to see you on links whobeatle.
It looks indeed prett awesome. Lots of interesting versions that remained outside the realm of the bootlegers.

Some first thoughts on this;

Monkberry Moon Delight is a delight and one of the many songs I prefer from Paul from what is - to me - his best ever album so I look forward to that other version very much.

Big Barn Bed uke ...interesting !

Mary Had A Little Lamp long version lol..i think I will skip that one

The Mess studio version - cool !

Slow version of HiHiHi? that sounds impossible?...so...interesting

Six O'Clock I will put on right away to hear his version

The Note You Never Wrote...most interesting

I wonder what the fun will be on Silly Love Songs

She's My Baby????? That's Wilbury material

The Fool On The Hill (Broadstreet outtake) ..wow... wonder what that is

Default THis is still in progress

I don't know how smart it was to post that list.
But since someone else already did it somewhere else.
I thought what the heck.

The only thing I didin't like is a couple things are missing.
Assuming the songs are available I would have dumped
a half dozen of the alternate versions in favor of another
half dozen unknown songs. Maybe there aren't any more.
Though I seriously doubt that , the way he writes. He
writes a new song every fifteen minutes!

So yeah alternate takes are nice but unknown songs are
even better. But there are a lot of never booted songs!
There are quite a few I have never even heard of and there
are quite a few I have heard of but never heard.

This is mouthwatering and we haven't even seen disc four
there could be something lifechanging on there!

So no one else comes to this forum or what ?

Links is a very busy place and many are from the US and doing other things this time of day/night, so just give it a little time....as in hours...

Many here talk about Paul a lot, even about his music... and quite some here have visited his concerts together even travelling to other countries for it or have seen him personally..have a look around the place and you will find out

Wow, sounds impressive, lotsa stuff I don't have or only have in crappy quality on an old boot somewhere. It seems odd though, is there really a huge market outside of us McCartney nuts who would be interested in a collection of stuff like this? If this comes to pass, I hope it won't break the bank because I'd love to hear some of these tracks.

Thirty five unreleased tunes on those three discs
and eighteen of them have never been booted.
And then of course there are forty something
alternate takes! and we still have one disc to go!
THIRTY FIVE UNRELEASED SONGS

NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD THOSE, and they were all produced

Why not a box covering 1970 to 2008, instead?

I remember this was talked about around the Driving Rain era (circa 2001)... Even a tracklist was leaked through Abbeyrd, and the title given to the boxed set was Waterspout.

So I think I've seen this movie...

I very much enjoy what Dylan does, releasing old glories as "Bootleg Series" products, with remastered tracks and good audio quality, unlike what we most often hear on bootlegs. So this is a nice idea...

I'm all for it - there are a couple of unreleased Paul songs that I would really like on any disc or compilation: "Goodbye", "Lindiana", "A Love for You", "Tragedy", "Waterspout", "Cage", "Yvonne", "Did We Meet Somewhere Before"... are all really good songs, and some of them better than some that finished up on albums. So I would LOVE to hear them in good sound quality.

There are also some attractive tracks: the studio version of "The Mess", Paul's vocal takes on "Must do Something About it", "The Note You Never Wrote" and especially "Six O'Clock"... And Denny's "Send Me the Heart", another song that I've always loved. And of course there's the attractive hook of releasing "Linda", a song that reportedly was never meant to be released.

What do I miss, at first glance? "1882", studio or live... That's a killer track, I love it... and "Return to Pepperland" which is really a cute song. It would be very interesting to unearth some things from the recent era, like the original, rejected-by-Godrich version of "Riding to Vanity Fair", or the unreleased, but reportedly recorded, songs from the Driving Rain and Chaos & Creation sessions... But I think I'm asking for too much. Perhaps Disc 4 will contain some B-sides from the Flowers in the Dirt/Off the Ground era: there are many of those.

It's a great idea and I just hope it comes to life. In some form... Thanks for the reports.

I agree that it would be nice to have unknown songs out there.
A song like "Waterspout" has always been one of my favourite Paul songs. It would be great if that and others finally get an official release.

The list is to long to go through,
Must Do Something about it (Paul On Vocal) - certainly interesting to hear.

Give Ireland Back To the Irish (Slow Version take 2) and C.Moon with John Bonham. Looking forward to these also. There is so much, I just hope it will get a release for sure.

Not that I'm doubting, but who is whobeatle and how does he know this?

But yeah, I'm psyched for this if it actually comes out. Will be great to finally have a legit release of "Goodbye" (still surprised it wasn't on Anthology 3) and of course "Did We Meet Somewhere Before." Kinda surprised that he would do this during the same year/season as the Beatles remasters--but to be honest, I'd actually rather have this stuff; at least it's all previously unreleased.

ETA: But why does he have to end it--let alone include any material from the Press to Play sessions? "Good Times Coming/Feel the Sun" and "Angry" are more than long enough as it is...

George Martin produced Tug Of War outtakes of those songs
have never been booted. These are proper records not lousy
rehearsals or quick home demos. Geoff Emerick engineering
Martin producing its a difference like night and day
