Right on Sarg! I will be doing that when I rest up here. Got a long day ahead of me (not really, probably just a depressing one--that time of month). *salute*

If I recall correctly, Tiff, Miss O'Dell is just compiling a directory of fanfics, she doesn't host them. (Correct me if I'm wrong, please, Miss O'Dell...) But if you put it up on the Web and send her the info, she can list it in her directory.

You can always use one of those free hosting services to post your slash fic, or find a site that will host such stories. Unfortunately, Rooftop Sessions does not accept slash or I would say send it to me. But I won't publish such stuff on my site under ANY circumstances. (The specific reasons why are in the RS Guidelines and FAQs, if anyone wants to read them.)

No offense to people who like to read and write it, but I find slash unbelievable and unrealistic, not to mention it's usually too angst-filled and pornographic for my tastes, and certainly not something the readers of my 'zine would want to read. Why bother to write gay stories about people who aren't and weren't gay? I don't see the point. Frankly, the mere IDEA of John and Paul, two of the most heterosexual men I can think of, involved with each other sexually turns my stomach. And it's NOT because I'm homophobic, either, 'cause I'm not...it's just so....implausible.

That was not meant to start a debate about slash, btw...I won't get into it, I've discussed my feelings about it many times before. I was just stating why I will not accept slash for Rooftop Sessions. Good luck with your story and I hope you find someone to host it if you don't put it up on the web yourself.

Just go to the Rooftop Sessions Archive ( http://www.rooftopsessions.com/Archive.html )-- try any stories by Angel Godiva and Lena King (don't let the first synopsis of "Perchance to Meet" deceive you -- Lena's are ABSOLUTELY John stories). Also try C.A. Jones' "Impressions," and "Revolution" by C.A. Jones and James Ryan. Additionally, several of James Ryan's other stories are about John. Just read the synopses of the stories in the archive -- you will be able to figure out what stories are John stories. You might also like "The Coffee House" by Beth Shorten, and "Your Spirit's Watching Over Me" by Jennifer Alward. (The stories in the archive are listed alphabetically by author, you'll be able to figure it out...)

Miss O'Dell also has some John stories in her directory, but I don't know titles off the top of my head...I would suggest going to look.

I don't care to get into the discussion about slash either because I know everyone has their own opinions. It's ok to dislike, or like it for that matter. I like it, not saying I believe any of it. I just have strange fetishes like that, things you may not care to even know about... So I will leave it at that. However, there are a few books that I know of who support happenings between John and Brian (Lennon & Me by Pete Shotton) and I believe it also talks about John and Stu; possible John and Paul. That is all I will say about that. ;)

I haven't read Astrid's book for I cannot find a copy, however, I was told that it also talks about happenings between John and Stu.

It's not Astrid who implied that, it's Pauline Sutcliffe, Stu's sister, and only in her last book, which, in my opinion, airs a lot of dirty laundry and cites some VERY questionable sources as reliable, such as Geoffrey Giuliano. In that book, Pauline goes back on a lot of things she stated as fact before, such as the idea that John might have somehow been responsible for Stu's death. In previous books she derided that possibility as patently ridiculous, and in her last one, has made a complete about-face based on sources like Giuliano and Goldman!!! I reviewed that book for Daytrippin' Magazine and stated unequivocally in my review that I thought Ms. Sutcliffe had some unresolved anger issues if she felt she had to restate things she had denied in the past and change her thoughts on such.

Astrid has NEVER, as far as I know, implied that John and Stu had any kind of sexual relationship, and I believe she would be horrified at the notion. (And I have met Astrid -- I can only imagine her reaction had somone actually come out and point blank asked her about something like that!) And the reason you can't find a copy of her book is because it is only available in a Genesis limited edition, costing more than $500. I've read parts of it, but only because friends of mine own it.

I still think slash is awful, but to each his own. I should point out, though, that publishing such stories on the Internet leaves the author wide open for a defamation of character lawsuit if the real people involved happen to see it and are offended by the homosexual content. Which is yet another reason why Rooftop will not publish slash. But if you like to write it and read it, knock yourself out...it just isn't my cuppa tea.

I admit I never liked the slash genre and Susan said it far better than I could:

My exact sentiments. Slash don't start my Dart nor make my day. I just don't like it and that is neither a criticism nor a reflection on anybody who enjoys it. Plainly a lot of people do, therefore the creation of a whole genre.

You know, you are right, Dr. Dreamer!

Listen, Soldiers! This is your Drill Sarge speaking, Sgt. Pepper! :

I want you to read Drop Forged Lennon and the other brilliant works by our own Dr. Dreamer and I also want you reading Tina's 12 Cold Creek Street, another high caliber work. Don't play with me, soldiers. I want you to march over to Rooftop Sessions and I also want you to order Tina's & Dr. Dreamer's works!

DO I HEAR YES, SARGE?! Good. I thought so. :)

(and I don't look a BIT like a military man)!

Geez, I need to catch up on my posting!

Nope, I DO host stories, no probs, though admittedly not very well at the moment. I'm in the processes of re-doing the whole thing so I'm very behind, but please do send me your story! It will be put up as soon as I can!
(Although when it is redone, I think I will only be hosting finished stories as I don't have the time to continously update everyones - except for the ones already there of course)
If you've already posted it somewhere else Tiff please send me the link for it!
Oh, and theres no limitations at the directory, Slash, Hurt n comfort, ewts fine - but include warnings if you think it needs it :)

Yes!! I'm so glad to see you back!

Ta la's. :) I will try and be here more often too. I am currently redoing the site with some spanking brand new software which will be fab once I can get it to work :D

Heres some stuff though to answer some of the questions in the posties....

I do host fanfics too for the non-html understanding scribes. No probs. See above post (from me)

You can search by Beatle, Author or Genre, so it should be pretty easy to track down something if you're looking for it. If you can't though drop me a line and I'll try and find it. (That includes stories I might not have on there)

email address is beatlesfanfics@aol.com (but don't expect a reply any time in the very soon, if you need me now email me at home or PM me)

link is www.angelfire.com/band2/beatlesfanfiction - please ignore its dishevelled state and the fact it says September 2004 on it!

:) Lindsey
