I think Tomorrow Never Knows isn't getting the love it deserves. That song changed music. And it's only one chord. The ability to create a song that good over one chord is a true testament to John's skills as a composer. Popular consensus is that A Day in the Life is the best closer on the best album. I am of the opinion that TNK is the best closer on the best album. When it was played on Mad Men a few weeks ago, it was used to represent the cultural change that was leaving the main character behind.
Here's something else(for music majors)...listen to it very carefully. While the common mythology is that it is all in one chord, varying instruments that appear in bar/measure 5-6 drop tones 1 step(including John's melody) that could be interpreted as an off chord (g-f-g, d-c-d, etc.) But all the instrumental solo sounds like one chord
I couldn't vote, because I think John wrote several masterpieces (as did Paul and George). But one song that is severely under-considered when talking about John's greatest work is Dear Prudence. It is definitely one of his many masterpieces.

"A Day in the Life" is probably the best of those songs -- but as others have said it's not just a John Lennon masterpiece, but a Lennon/McCartney masterpiece.....
For John alone, I'd take "Strawberry Fields Forever" -- although "Norwegian Wood" is also a major piece of work... they're all among my favourite Beatles' songs (except perhaps "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds")

GOOD MORNING!
GOOD MORNING!!
GOOD MORNING!!!
A Day In The Life. I've been listening to this song for 25 yrs and it's only just occurred to me what I like about it. It's poignant! It's a closer call with the John songs than Pauls and also this and another contender Tomorrrow never knows have significant contributions from other people inc. the producer and engineer which makes it a bit less credible to call it a 'John song' esp. Tomorrow Never Knows which without the effects and tapes which John was only partially responsible for would be a very unimpressive song. Obviously A Day In The Life had the Paul bit in the middle but the John verses are his finest songwriting moments and in someways maybe it'd have been better without the Paul bit. It's interesting to wonder what might have become of the song without the Paul bit.
So difficult and so close! LOVE this brain teaser. I could have voted for any of those, except All You Need Is Love. I chose Nowhere Man because the words and melody are so pure. I chose this over A Day in the Life and Strawberry Fields b/c the production played a big part of the appeal of those songs for me.
At the same time, I don't know how anyone could be faulted for choosing "A Day in the Life" or "Strawberry Fields". Both are incredible pieces of work, and in my opinion John Lennon is the only person on Earth who could have written them.

I may have answered previous to this post but whatever I may have posted, I'm changing my answer to In My Life. That song is absolutely transcendent. Forget that it was written by a 25 yr old kid. It's a very personal and introspective song. And to top that, he made it a love song.
This was hard between In My Life and A Day In The Life! I love the former for it's beautifullness and personal ties, but I just feel like there's something so complex about the latter, especially how it manages to tie in with Paul's song so effortlessly.

The surreal poetry of "I am the Walrus" is the song I picked out of the selections as it surely the best in his in "Lennonesque" songwriting ala his published works of "In His Own Write" and "A Spaniard in the Works" and in creating an ultimate sound-scape..... whereby "Strawberry Fields" would be his most personal in my humble opinion.
