I loved the 1996 movie That Thing You Do! and the title song. It was such a believe portrayal of 1964. The only thing I didn't like was when Jonathan Schaeck went on and on about Chordvettes being a possible name for the group. I didn't like the way he beat people over the head with the explanation - chord as in music and the vette as a nod to the Chevrolet. Okay, we got it. Good grief!
The other thing I didn't just dislike; I actively hated. I hated it when One-Ders (yes, a spoof on Wonders) was repeatedly mispronounced as O'Needers. I hate the sound of O'Needers and think it sounds worse than flatulent ass and the train whistle. For some reason that really irked me.
Wonders was a good name for the group. Tom Hanks was right - spell Wonders correctly and you'll avoid mishaps down the road.

Bigotry makes me really
The new racist term is "anchor baby," a derogatory term applied to babies born in America to immigrant parents. As reporter Jose A. Vargas said on the news 8/23/15, why not just say "baby" or "American citizen?" Another point he made was that many bigots and the generally uninformed use "Mexican" and "illegals" interchangeably. I got a lot of relatives in California who could get into raising Cain over THAT racist assumption! That kind of thing really bothers me.
We all LEARN a lot from people who come from different backgrounds. It' called cultural sharing. Everyone learns from people who have vastly different life experiences. It is an ADVANTAGE to have people coming to the U.S. from all over the world. One cannot make assumptions about people they don't know.
As for Jose A. Vargas, I like his style.

BB, I am stunned over what the Republican party has been trotting out as possible nominees. Donald Trump?? They can't be serious! And he's ahead in the polls??

That shocks me too. He's called Donald Chump in some circles and Mike Huckabeast is no walk in the park either. I am NO fan of Ted Cruz and find him a nasty, snide little man. Dump Chump!

Hi there, Pinkie! Long time, no see!
Yeah, I can't begin to figure people creating spurious rumors of somebody's death. Totally juvenile!

I like Mickey Mouse, but NOT his voice. Another cartoon mouse with an irritating voice that made me want to hurt something was Minute Mouse, the whinebag mouse on Courageous Cat, the cat who had a gun for everything. They drove a hideous cat car and not something cool like a mega super Dodge Dart 270 or a gleaming, shining 1962 Ford Galaxie.
Donald Duck was a bastardly Disney character and he, too had a hideous voice along with his triplet nephews. The triplets were nice little ducks, but their "Unca Donald" was a bastard duck extraordinaire. Ringo didn't like him either.
I can't stand Fran Drescher's voice. It is torture to my ears. I couldn't watch that show because I just can't stand her voice. I also didn't like Shirley Booth of Hazel infamy's hideous voice. Penny Marshall of Odd Couple, a show I grew up loving and Laverne & Shirley, which I found most horrid had a hideous voice as well.
I don't like the 1950s and was sick of the way they were glamorized in the media throughout the 70s and early 80s. I don't like doo-wop and I was not overly fond of 50s fashion. I'm so glad I wasn't born in the Jim Crow, Red Scare, Ike years. I really am.
I don't like "Piggy in the Middle" or "Love Life" one bit.

It was painful, but not really that bad. The first day was not great, but it's much better now!

I'm glad you are on the mend and it's unfortunate about the pain factor.
My MI - I cannot stand the Marx Bros and cannot for the life of me imagine why anyone thinks their inane jokes are funny. I hate Groucho's voice. I'd rather hear a train whistle.

I feel bad for people who have to work on Thanksgiving. There is a petition online for Macy's to be closed on Thanksgiving instead of having people come in and work until the wee hours of the morning. And check this out - I heard there were people who brought their [i[children[/i] in to shop after midnight during the wee hours of the morning! How stupid is that?

I hate the "This is my Fight Song." I'd rather smell a buzzard's meal and hear the train whistle. I hate the song and am thoroughly sick of it. CThat song pisses me off so much!

Recovering from surgery is more difficult and painful than the surgery itself.
Thinking out loud is just another way of saying talking to yourself. It's the same damn thing. It irks me to no end when people ask the air at large where they put something or some equally stupid rhetorical question. For Pete's sake, if you don't want responses, then don't talk to yourself! If you speak where others can here you, what in the blue hell is the point of asking if you don't want a response? How illogical is that?

I don't like the way Dr Oz frowns whenever he eats on his show. I actually wish he'd leave eating to his guests. That annoys me. Every darn single time he eats something, he grimaces, frowns and acts angry at the food even though he says he enjoys it!
