Default Songs that mention the Beatles

How many songs can you think of that mention the Beatles? Here's a list I came up with off the top of my head:

1. "The Seeker" by the Who
2. "Ball of Confusion" by the Temptations
3. "I Dig Rock and Roll Music" by Peter, Paul & Mary
4. "Life in a Northern Town" (this one's from the mid-80s; help me out with the name of the group since I can't remember!)
5. "We Love You Beatles" by the Carefrees
6. "Shooting Star" by Bad Company
7. "God" by John Lennon
8. Okay, I remember this song from the early '80s by a woman named Charlene that has the line "someone took the Beatles' lead guitar." Does that count? It's a real song, I promise!

Maybe you can do better than I did!

The only one not on this list that I can think of, is Be my Yoko Ono, by the Barenake Ladies, it talkes about John and Yoko. It's not the Beatles per say, but you know, it might fit.

We had another topic like this some time ago, but I can't find it just now.

There's a somewhat recent country song (And I don't listen to country music, but I've heard this song). It's goes, "I try to think about Elvis, Memphis, The Beatles, or the Rolling Stones..."
-Kristi

There's a John Mellancamp song that mentions John Lennon's name.

In the musical Hair, the song "Frank Mills" has the lyric:

"He was last seen with his friend
A drummer, he resembles George Harrison of the Beatles
But he wears his hair tied in a small bow
at the back"

Then the Mott the Hoople song "All the Young Dudes" says:

"And my brother's back at home with his Beatles and his Stones
We never got it off on that revolution stuff"

Allan Sherman did a parody song called "Pop Hates the Beatles" (based on "Pop Goes the Weasel."

Sugarloaf's "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You" says:

"Listen kid you paid for the call
You ain't bad but we've heard it all before
Yeah it sounds like John, Paul and George"

Not sure if this has been mentioned but in Def Leppard's song "Rocket" he sings "Sgt. Pepper and the band"

I'm surprised no one has mentioned these:

1. "Summer Rain" - Johnny Rivers
"Everybody kept on playing Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

2. "American Pie" - Don McLean
"The quartet practiced in the park."
"Sergeants played a marching tune."

3. "Garden Party" - Rick Nelson
"Yoko brought her walrus, there was magic in the air."

Does George's Living In The Material World count? "John and Paul here in the Material world/Though we started out quite poor, we got Ritchie on a tour."

There's a song by a woman named Jill Sobule called "Idols," which mentions Paul and John...the line isn't very complimentary towards Paul, though!

"Paul McCartney, jealous of John,
Even more so now that he's gone."

Of course...if the shoe fits...

Here are some more I thought of:

I think there was a parody song based on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" called "Ringo Starr" (with the opening line "Ringo, Ringo, Ringo Starr"), but my memory could be playing me false. Actually, somewhere I have an album (vinyl, unfortunately, and me without a turntable) of parody songs and other funny tunes about the Beatles. Does anyone know if it was ever released on CD?

"When We Was Fab" by George; it may not "mention" them, but it sure is about them!

We also shouldn't forget John tribute songs:

"Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny)" by Elton John

The one about Dec. 8th by Christine Lavin (can't recall the title offhand)

"All Those Years Ago" by George

"Here Today" by Paul

There must be tons more....

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">That's Patty Loveless, from Pikeville, KY with her hit, "I Try To Think About Elvis."

also in country music....Joe Diffie had one called "Bigger Than the Beatles," a catchy tune about 'they had a love bigger than the Beatles.'

and Lionel Cartwright did "I Watched It All On My Radio" with the line:
the Beatles, the Stones and the Byrds
you should have seen all the groups that i heard."

the b-side of The Clash's first single was "1977" and it went:
"No Elvis, Beatles, or the Rollin' Stones in 1977!"

There's a song by a French singer called Claude François which was released c.1977. In fact, it's a cover of "What a Night".It alludes to the group's debut in 1962(the song is about 1962 and it's called "Cette année-là", "That year").

allright, seems like it's time to go global here... so this is my start for the spanish speaking B's fans (which also counts in the millions...)

-Charly Garcia (Argentina), on "Vos tambien
estabas verde" from "Yendo de la cama al
living": "Me escape sin pensar/escuche a los
Beatles/y me fui a buscar la soledad":"I ran
away without thinking/listened to the Beatles/
and went to find solitude"

-La Union (Spain), on "A traves del espejo" from
"Vivir al este del Eden":
"a traves del espejo hay algo mas/que imagenes
de ti/un hombre en un piano azul proclama sin
cesar/ que Lennon no se fue jamas de aqui":
"across the mirror there's something else/than
images of you/a man with a blue piano proclaims
incesantly/ that Lennon never left".

-Fito Paez (Argentina), on "Creo" from "El amor
despues del amor":
"creo que sali a ver un poco el sol/creo que te
vi bailando Beatles en alguna vieja casa del
lugar":"I believe I went to see the sun/I believe
I saw you dancing Beatles at some old house".

I'm sure there's alot more out there.
