Default McCartney kids unhappy about wedding

http://www.btopenworld.com/news/0,,c...420141,00.html

LONDON (Reuters) - Paul McCartney has admitted his children are finding it difficult to accept his forthcoming marriage to Heather Mills, but said they had to realise "it`s how it is and how it must be".

The 59-year old ex-Beatle, who has said he "cried for a year" after his wife Linda died of breast cancer in 1998, is due to marry former model Mills, 33, on June 6 in a star-studded ceremony in New York.

But his children are still struggling with the idea.

"They find it difficult to think of me with another woman," he told Britain`s Sunday Telegraph magazine in an interview.

"I think a second marriage is hard for the children," he said. "But it`s how it is and how it must be, and I think that more than anything they want me to be happy -- and this is what makes me happy."

McCartney -- who will turn 60 next month -- has three children from his marriage to Linda as well as a daughter from Linda`s previous marriage.

He is currently on tour in the United States -- his first American concert tour in almost 10 years.

I can totally understand his children. It must be tough for them. I'm not sure whether it's because of Heather's age or just the fact he's remarrying.
Anyway, I hope they'll eventually accept it and that it won't harm their relationship with Paul.

Thanks for posting it, let_it_roll.

Yes, it's hard, and I wouldn't accept it either.

I honestly do think they would be more accepting if the woman in question was more like Linda's age than younger than his eldest child. (I mean Heather, not Mary.) I don't like to make an issue of it, generally, but I must say that after a lifetime of hearing people say that I was too young to be a Beatles fan because Paul was too old for me, it really, really stings to know that at the age of 40, I'M too old for HIM, if you know what I mean. (Not that I'd have him on a silver platter, but you get the idea...)

It must be really tough for his kids...but I guess if he's happy, there's nothing to do about it, for we the fans or his kids!

NOBODY is too young to be a Beatles' fan! I used to get that all the time, but I wisely never bought into it. Heck, even my closest relatives now (albeit grudgingly in some cases) credit me with making them Beatle experts by default!

Well, I hope everything works out for all of the McCartneys! I think for some fans it's still hard to see Paul with someone other than Linda. But, I just want Pau to be happy. Still, I wish the whole family all the best!

Maybe they don't like her because they think she doesn't really love their father. Sorry - but from some of the things she's said, I wonder as well. I try to keep my mouth shut about negative things, but I am worried about Paul.

I have my own doubts about Heather, but Paul is a grown man and can make his own mistakes.

Obviously, this is true and no matter what I say or think will make a bit of difference to him. But, that doesn't mean I can't worry. Didn't mean to sound judgemental with this thing or about the woman, I was just sharing my thoughts.

This is from the Sunday People.

MACCA DAUGHTER HASN'T TALKED TO HIM IN MONTH

SIR Paul McCartney and his daughter Stella have not spoken for a month in a family rift over his wedding next week, the Sunday People can reveal.

Friends say top fashion designer Stella can't accept her superstar father's bride Heather Mills.

Stella - who at 30 is only four years younger than Heather - is convinced she is trying to take the place of her late mum Linda and is said to have branded her a "preying mantis". A family source admitted: "There is an uneasy silence between Sir Paul and Stella about the wedding."

The friction got worse when ex-model Heather decided to design her own dress rather than seek Stella's help.

Stella was furious when Heather claimed she could not make a classy enough gown - and branded her future stepmum's dress sense "tarty".

Heather is not thought to have included Stella in the list of celebrities invited to her hen party this weekend.

The insider said: "Stella and her father have always found time to speak regularly in the past despite being extremely busy with their careers.

"Now it seems Stella doesn't want to rock the boat with Sir Paul so she is keeping schtum."

Pop legend Macca, 59, will wed Heather in Ireland in nine days' time, as the Sunday People revealed.

His first wife Linda died of cancer four years ago - and Stella and the couple's other children, Heather, 37, Mary, 31, and James, 23, have found it difficult to accept their father's new love.

One friend said: "Stella thinks Heather saw Paul was vulnerable and pounced on him like a praying mantis. Now she's dragging him up the aisle. In Stella's eyes it has been done with indecent haste."

Heather's ivory dress includes 10 metres of finest Chantilly lace. She met Sir Paul, who plays at Buckingham Palace tomorrow, at a charity bash.

The ex-Beatle, worth an estimated 700 million, has admitted: "A second marriage is hard for children."
