Well, The Beatles will finally have an official web site. It's at http://www.thebeatles.com or http://www.beatles.com. It's obviously geared towards the new CD coming out, but I'm sure it will eventually be a general site. It was only a matter of time. If they have a discussion forum, it might mean the end of BeatleLinks.net as we know it.

Jerry, whether or not they have a discussion forum will not mean the end for Beatlelinks.net. I might go check it out, but this is my "home" and you are my Beatle brother.
Everyone here will agree with me on this. You can take that to the bank.

I support all above and will be here ofcourse, but as BBC reports that

'The three remaining members of the Beatles are to set up their first official website to the band 30 years after they split up as a group.

The site is being launched to tie in with the release of a collection of the Fab Four's biggest hits, called simply 1.

The site is based around the 27 tracks on the album - each of which has been a chart-topper in either the UK or US.

Ringo Starr, Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Yoko Ono, John's widow, are all said to have had an input into the site. '

it will be interesting to experience if that indeed is the case.

It's already there, announcing the opening on November 13.

You guys are the greatest! Nothing could ever replace our family here of course. But let's be realistic. If the official site had a discussion forum, they would have more members and posts in one day than we've accumulated in 5 months. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed...Imagine if they had a "Links To Other Beatles Sites" link, and it just loaded our site when you clicked on it. Now that would be cool. Massive publicity overnight. Beatlefest has done this for us already. Check it out - http://www.beatlefest.com.

I have my doubts that this will ever be live.
After all, this site was to be live late-August 1999 for the Songtrack.
Registars:thebeatles.com is registered to Apple Corps,Ltd.(as are yellowsubmarine.com,magicalmysterytour.com,and applecorpsltd.com). beatles.com is a Virgin Records site, and I don't see how there is any connection between Apple and Virgin.
I'll beleive it when I see it.

I heard some comments on the radio today that probably the additions as described by Paul, George, Ringo and Yoko are comparable to what's in The Book, focussed on the tracks on this compilation.

We can have a look for a few minutes and quickly return here to discuss.

Let's be real, e.g. my list of favorites on my computer on Beatles has about 40 websites, call it a library, and probably you all have similar, but there is no better discussion forum than this one.

If anyone of us goes there, Beatlelinks is the site to discuss what you come across. If you're interested in another description about it, go to http://www.billboard.com/daily/2000/1102_03.asp .
One thing's for sure though, Beatlelinks.net will always be my "home".

I'm sure the new Beatles web site will be totally unique, colorful and fun. It'll be great to be able to view all the promo films as well as part of the roof top concert. I look forward to seeing other exclusives in the future like Shea Stadium or Hollywood bowl MP3's. Who knows, we may even see a chat with someone like Neil or Geoff or even one of the guys from the band. I hope the Apple folks keep the site updated and fresh.

There has been an official press release from EMI which e.g. shows that there will be some pretty good stuff for us to watch, so it is getting interesting. Read this;
http://www.thebeatles.com is a website a year in the making. Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Yoko Ono Lennon have injected their individual creative ideas into the project; combined with an international team of cutting-edge website designers, involving Apple Corps Ltd, Abbey Road Interactive, and EMI Records, the website promises to redefine the nature of artist collaborations on the Internet. 27 different Beatles experiences will ultimately be on the site, linking with each track on the album.

Amongst the many innovative highlights of the sites are:

``GET BACK'' A visual and aural recreation of the Beatles' rooftop performance on the Apple building in Savile Row. You can now see The Beatles' legendary last-ever performance and hear comments from the crowd that quickly gathered.

``I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND'' Walk around the Beatles session in Studio 2 at Abbey Road studios.

``HELP''. A truly worldwide interactive experience where participants can help each other locate instruments and ``become'' John, Paul, George and Ringo.

``DAY TRIPPER'' View visuals through different effect glasses, including kaleidoscopic effects.
New elements are still being added to the site which also features 24 original promo films, single sleeves from around the world, charts from the period and much, much more, all inspired by the 27 songs on "1".

An official Beatles site will be a great place to go to get official notices and such, but let's face it, Jer... officially, over the years, Beatle news has never been much more than that. I can't see anyone in their stuff-shirted offices pandering to us bunch of firmly opinionated Beatle nuts

We'll go there, catch up on the latest (for as long as it lasts, that is), and we'll come here, and tear it to shreds and see if if holds up to the time-honoured test of true Beatlefandom.

Doubt their forum would be bigger, though it would be tamer, than old rec.music.beatles.
Much as I knock it, I do love r.m.b.,though I advise any who wishes to read to have a strong filter,as the language is uncensored and there is a lot of Off-Topic posts,as well as flame fests a plenty, though the main person involved is gone for now.
Having said that,I wouldn't give up BeatleLinks.net for anything, even an official message board.
