Ok. I suppose it will be somewhat appropriate tomorrow too. Don't forget about me guys!

Today's song, though, is one of my favourites. He sounds really nice singing it, and it's an all around good song.

Never Without You

is appropriate.

Never Without You. A lovely song (and I was going to pick that if you guys waited for me! I'm kidding. I love you all! And probably one of the best things Ringo has written.

"Photograph" is one of my favorites.

Photograph

Richard Starkey and George Harrison

Every time I see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all I got is a photograph
And I realise you're not coming back anymore.
I thought I'd make it the day you went away,
But I can't make it
Till you come home again to stay-yi-yay-yi-yay.

I can't get used to living here,
While my heart is broke, my tears I cried for you.
I want you hear to have and hold,
As the years go by and we grow old and grey.

Now you're expecting me to live without you,
But that's not something that I'm looking forward to.

I can't get used to living here,
While my heart is broke, my tears I cried for you.
I want you hear to have and hold,
As the years go by and we grow old and grey.

Every time I see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all I got is a photograph
And I realise you're not coming back anymore.

Every time I see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all I got is a photograph
And I realise you're not coming back anymore.

Every time I see your face,
It reminds me of the places we used to go.
But all I got is a photograph
And I realise you're not.

Do I have to choose?

Never Without you is such a beautiful tribute song.

But Photograph is a great song. And Ringo and George wrote it together! Awww... But when you read the lyrics and think of George they are rather heartwrenching

I agree, Savoy. Both songs demonstrate the love and respect they had for each other. Photograph is, indeed, my favorite! Listen closely and you can hear George's harmony.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">My favorite bit is...

"Now you're expecting me to live without you..."

Especially the vocal emphasis on live

Nice descending chords as well (just before the last line of each verse).

As much as I love what Ringo did with this one, I still wish we had a Harri version (even if only a demo).

Today's song is a cover that Ringo did back in 1974. John arranged this 1955 Platters song and Ringo did a superb job on the vocals. In fact, I like his verion better than the original.

Only You (And You Alone)

Buck Ram and Ande Rand
© Sherwin Music Ltd

(Oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo)
Only you can make this world seem right,
Only you can make the darkness bright.
Only you and you alone
Can thrill me like you do,
And fill my heart with love for only you.

Only you can make this change in me,
For it's true, you are my destiny.
When you hold my hand I understand
The magic that you do.
You're my dream come true,
My one and only you.

Only you can make this world seem right,
Only you can make the darkness bright.

Only you and you alone
Can thrill me like you do,
And fill my heart with love for only you.

Only you can make this change in me,
For it's true, you are my destiny.
When you hold my hand I understand
The magic that you do.
You're my dream come true,
My one, my one and only you.

Only you,
Only you,
Only you,
Only you,
Only you,(only you)
Only you,(only you)
Mm-mm-m-mm,
Mm-mm-mm-mm,(only you)
Mm-mm-mm-mm.

Excellent choice! A very good cover! I agree with you, bearkat. This is much nicer than the original. I think it fits his vocal style quite well.

Today's Ringo song is one of those novelty-type numbers. Ringo sings able the vices in his life and how he doesn't want to partake in them any more.

No No Song

Hoyt Axton
© Rondor Music (Ldn) Ltd.

Huh-huh! Huh-huh
(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
(Aye-aye-aye-aye)

A lady that I know just came from Columbia,
She smiled because I did not understand.
Then she held out some marijuana, haha!
She said it was the best in all the land.

And I said,
"No, no, no, no, I don't smoke it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

(Ah-ah, aye-aye)

A woman that I know just came from Majorca, Spain,
She smiled because I did not understand.
(Parazzi! Parazzi! Olé!)
Then she held out a ten pound bag of cocaine,
She said it was the finest in the land.

And I said,
"No, no, no, no, I don't *sniff* it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

(Aye-aye-aye-aye)
(Aye-aye-aye-aye)
(Aye-aye-aye-aye)
(Aye-aye-aye)

A man that I know just came from Nashville, Tennessee, oo, (oh no!)
He smiled because I did not understand.
Then he held out some moonshine whiskey, oh ho,
He said it was the best in all the land.
(And he wasn't joking!!!)

And I said,
"No, no, no, no, I don't drink it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

Well, I said,
"No, no, no, no, I can't take it no more,
I'm tired of waking up on the floor.
No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,
And then it makes it hard to find the door."

Hey, yeah!

Default Re: Ringo\'s song of the moment

Today's Ringo song was the B-side to his first solo single. Written as a sort of a plea to his former mates, Ringo is saying that he would like to have some harmony with his former band members.

Early 1970

Lives on a farm, got plenty of charm, beep, beep.
He's got no cows but he's sure got a whole lot of sheep.
And grand new wife and a family,
And when he comes to town,
I wonder if he'll play with me.

Laying in bed, watching TV, Cookie!
With his mama by his side, she's Japanese.
They scream and they cried, now they're free,
And when he comes to town,
I know he's gonna play with me.

He's a long-haired, cross-legged guitar picker, um-um.
With his long-legged lady in the garden picking daisies for his soup.
A forty acre house he doesn't see,
'Cause he's always in town
Playing for you with me.

I play guitar, A-D-E.
I don't play bass 'cause that's too hard for me.
I play the piano if it's in C.
And when I go to town I wanna see all three,
And when I go to town I wanna see all three,
And when I go to town I wanna see all three.

Nice song. I think it shows that Ringo really did (and still does) love his mates!
