Tools
They are a neccesity of life. One difference between man and animals.
What tool do you use the most?
Are you a tool nut...gotta have the best most powerful one made? or do you deal with those handmedown ones that you got free from granpa's garage? Or both?

good topic, Pinky
The tool I use most is the good old pliars, although the spelling looks wrong. I ride motorcycles, so that is one thing that must be in the tool kit.

I practically have a hardware store in my basement. You name it, my husband probably owns it. Nice part is that he uses them, too! As for me, I mainly use junior sized screwdrivers for small kitchen repairs.

I have at least 7 or 8 different screwdrivers because it seems every time I've bought one of those "put it together yourself" furniture things (my tv cart, my computer desk, my CD racks, etc), they've required a different sized Phillips screwdriver! Plus I have at least 3 flat head screwdrivers, a hammer, pliers, a wire cutter (for my guitar strings)...what I really want/need is a small drill, but I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. I also have a bunch of painting supplies, but those aren't really tools.
I actually hate tools because I'm very NON-handy. But I'm not about to pay somebody to put something together if I can do it myself. Even if it requires a fair amount of swearing.

The one I use the most is the screwdriver. I have one of those household tool kits with assorted tools in it, and no one else is allowed to use it because usually that's where I end up finding a screwdriver/hammer/etc. when all the others in the house are missing.

I can't say I use any, then again have been known to handle a tool, just not the kind you mean My partner is obessed with them though, has every kind going and when he buys a new one he cradles it like a baby He job is model making, animation and set building so uses loads.

The main thing I use when something is broken is my dad!!!!! He's got loads of tools!!!!! Although he's been teaching me minor repairs while I've been living at home. So when I move out soon I may get some of my own just for emergencies!!!!! I'm not the most handy person around though!!!!!

I love it that only women have posted so far! Oh and Tina, I can relate about you having your own tool kit. I keep a small hammer and set of screwdrivers in my kitchen - nobody else touches them! So I always know where they are!

lol...we have one male response so far ;)
We have so many tools in our house we had to build a garage almost as big to hold them. We have given our kids their own set for their 8th birthday...to keep thier hands off their dads :) And yes I have my own as well.
And I think we have all of my hubby's father's and grandfathers !!!!!! so many tools

I think the only time I've had to actually fix something by myself was when my bedroom doorknob was loose. So, I guess the tool I use the most is the screwdriver.

Well, in my experience, at least, I end up fixing about 90% of what's broken on my own (sinks, toilet, doors, cabinets, etc.). If I wait around for someone else to do it *coughcoughfiance*, it doesn't get done.

I've had a toolkit as long as I can remember -- and I always wanted to go down into my dad's workshop and play around with all his stuff when I was a kid. I'm pretty handy, I can fix nearly anything that doesn't require a professional if I take the time to figure out how to do it.
And I'm better at that kind of thing than my brother, too!
Yeah, pretty interesting that mostly women have responded in this thread...just goes to show you that the term handy"man" is pretty obsolete!
