Default Did anyone happen to tape Larry King interview with Paul?

Hi everyone-

Did anyone happen to tape "Larry King Live" last night (June 12)???

He was interviewing Paul McCartney and I meant to watch/tape it and regretfully did neither. I'm kicking myself right now.

Did anyone here tape it? And if so could I ask anyone if they could mail me a copy to my home address? Please if you taped it, send me an e-mail to my e-mail address:

Shane.McAuliffe@usa.xerox.com

(I trust there are no pranksters here who would use the above e-mail address for sending me rubbish)

Please if anyone taped the interview---e-mail me!

Thank you!

PaulRamone: I'm sorry I didn't tape the interview, as I think it was terrific, but I believe it's going to be repeated over the week-end. In any event, I'm sure someone on this site taped it and will provide you with a copy. Paul was really great. He was so sharp and responsive, it was a real pleasure to watch. Sometimes he's self-conscious and twitchy when being interviewed, but he was extremely poised and composed with Larry King. My husband and I couldn't believe the hour passed as quickly as it did. We would've enjoyed another half-hour, at least. I know you'll love the show when you get to see it for yourself.

I taped it. Paul was gracious, charming and a most pleasant guest. Larry, of course, is a good interviewer. He did an excellent job reading Paul's poem, "The Jerk of All Jerks," re: 1980. Paul has a rhythmic, lyrical voice when he is reading; Larry, on the other hand gave a good, crisp delivery and I enjoyed the difference in the two styles.

Heather graced the interview for the last quarter; she is a brave, beautiful and very savvy lady. I like her. I also have a lot of respect for her. It was an excellent interview.

It was. The only thing that really upset me is that Paul said he actually liked some of Eminem stuff... Come on, what was that?

I taped it too...

Yikes. Maybe I'm overly critical, but I think he's awful. I've read elsewhere that CNN considers him kind of an embarassment.

Oh, and by the way, could they possibly have had any MORE commercials????

I wish I could offer up a tape, but my VCR and cable box are not getting along...when I try to tape anything over channel 20, the picture is just fine, but the audio is some weird Polish talk show! If I turn the VCR off, it sounds fine, but as soon as the VCR's on, the Polish guy is back! Bizarre!

I thougt precisely the same when I was recording it... Tired of pressing the "Pause" button, I better recorded all the commercials... And I press "fast forward" when I watch it...

And sorry about the Polish guy...

I thoroughly enjoyed Paul for all the reasons mentioned. I especially liked when he was playing with his camera watch and not paying attention to Larry King, who I felt could have asked him (some) more interesting questions.

I think he just didn't want to say he hates rap. A man of his talents and accomplishments couldn't possibly like crap music.

the sound you make is musak to my ears.

I agree with Joe. Rap is "crap" minus one letter.

And I agree with Beatlebangs and Joe! Is that anything like the word "diet" being "Die" with a "T" on the end? Seriously, I was a bit appalled when Paul said he thought Eminem was "clever!" Geez, Paul, what WERE you thinking?!?

The interview was pretty poor, in terms of not revealing pretty much interesting... But that was Larry King's fault. His questions weren't always "interesting". Plus the funniest part by far was Paul with his camera watch. How much would one of those cost?

Regarding the above few posts - I'm not much of a fan of rap music either, but I think that's more a function of the fact that most of it seems to be very violent and very anti-women. The form itself is kind of interesting and when there's a melodic background and a fairly regular rhyming pattern, it can be ok. I'll never be excited by it, but I hate sounding like my mom..."oooh, those young people these days!"

He might have said he likes some of Eminem's stuff for the same reason many have said they like his music. Though his message is SOL many artists respect him for having the guts to go out there and express himself, however unenlightened his ideas might be.

The camera watch bit was such a "Beatle thing" it was great to see old Paul in true Beatle fashion.

Right, jtal! That watch bit was a throwback to the old days, for sure! As for Larry King's interview: we're all so Beatle-savvy that we already knew all the answers to the questions Larry asked, but he was playing to a much bigger audience who is, no doubt, much less-informed than we. I guess it was more of a "review" for us fans than an "interview," but I still enjoyed it and thought Paul was very honest and bright. I don't believe Larry ever saw the Anthology tapes because he didn't seem to know that "I Want to Hold Your Hand" was the first U.S. hit for the boys. That kind of surprised me.

Yeah, the Beatles were always in that attitude during interviews. Almost appearing aloof, or that they couldn't be bothered, or didn't need the attention but were obligated to be there. There was never any pretentions with them and it at least appeared that they didn't fret about what people thought. They managed to stay normal, their charming and witty selves in public. Who else could get away with ignoring Larry King by playing with a camera watch?

GlenV and jtal recall how unimpressed The Beatles were by other celebrities and members of the media. They had their heroes, like Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Motown Artists, etc., but they were ever-cool during interviews and performances. Even though Brian Epstein made them wear suits, they were forever those scruffy Liverpudlians deep inside. Nobody before them had such an attitude.
