Re: George has died
A friendly co-worker gave me access to the Net, which is why I'm able to post during the day. My co-workers know I'm a big Beatles fan, so they were sympathetic. One of them even thought that I wouldn't be in today, but I had to go in. At least I brought in some Beatles/George CDs to pay tribute to him. Still, it's much easier to share feelings with fellow fans; I cried again as I read this thread. I'm sure those won't be the last tears I shed today....
Sleepy, my thoughts go out to you and Kat, and to BB1964 as well.

Re: George has died
Thank you for the kind words and the information, Susan.
Good thing I wear contacts because I can blame having watery eyes on my contacts. They come in handy at a time like this.
I heard the news today, oh boy at 7:00 am CST. CNN was on in the other room and I heard "My Sweet Lord," which is chillingly a propos. The first thought that ran through my mind was, "Oh, no! We've lost George! Why else would that song be on CNN?" I wish with all my heart I had been mistaken.
Now I have to put on my workaday face and act like it's a regular day. I can't wait to go home. I will be watching the George bio tonight. "I Want to Tell You," (my favorite song by George during the Beatle years, 1966), "What is Life," "Blow Away," "My Sweet Lord" and album titles "All Things Must Pass" and "Living in the Material World" are so poignantly ironic and sadly apt right now.
It's time to make another trip to the ladies room where I can try to save some face.

Then we will remember things we said today. Yeah.

Re: George has died
GEORGE, SOLO PUEDO DECIRTE QUE TOODS TE AMAMOS Y QUE TE EXTRAÑAREMOS CON TODA EL ALMA EN LA MISMA PROPORCION EN QUE ADORAMOS A TU MUSICA Y TI....
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you how to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all...
Still my guitar gently weeps.

Re: George has died
Ugh. Word has just reached me here in Vietnam about the sad news. For the first time in my life, I am at a loss for words. I don't think I will ever be able to listen to his song "All Things Must Pass" without getting teary-eyed.... especially the "I must be on my way," line.
Even though we knew it was coming, you never really expect it. My wife has no idea why I am so upset about losing someone I have never even met. How can I explain to her that George helped provide me with the soundtrack of my life and that everytime I hear "Something" Or "I need you" I am reminded of her and I have him to thank for that?
Sad day, indeed.

Tell her in a way she'll understand. Does she keep pictures or momentoes that are dear to her, recalling special events in her life? Try to use that as an analogy... Or maybe she has a spiritual hero or someone else she would really miss if they stopped doing what they do for whatever reason.

Very very sad day. He will be missed. It's a damn shame. All that money, and he still couldn't help himself, cancer sucks!!!

Well, that's one way of putting it. In a way I'm glad he's out of his pain, and I bet he's up there now having a laugh with John about the last 20 or so years.

Re: George has died
This is the third time since September 11th that I had to wake up to bad news. I was shocked and I automatically cried as soon as the radio played "Here Comes The Sun". He will never be forgotten and he is not in pain anymore. I hope he is having fun with John up in heaven.
RIP

Re: George has died
Beside the grief that we all have for losing George, it is good to read that many feel like I do. In misery, but that is Our misery, but thankfull in a way, that George is not suffering anymore in this life, and indeed, probably now is happy in his next life.

Re: George has died
The first thing I heard when I woke up this morning was, "George Harrison...dead." I was a bit shocked and very sad, though I've also been expecting it for awhile.
I'll miss him, he was a great musician and lyricist. My second favorite Beatle- gone.

Yes Harb, know what you mean. But I believe we were in hope and there was too much unreliable news coming in to the world. Paul and Ringo with George last Monday, Paul tonight on TV referring to 'I saw him a few weeks ago'.

Dear George is at peace now. May God hold him in his memory.
Sleepy, I have never had the opportunity to express my feelings about your loss to you before. I am so sad for you and consider your attitude to your loss to be very fine indeed.

Re: George has died
It's been fun, old friend; it's been fun. A truly saintly man…gone. I can never listen to "All Things Must Pass" the same way again. But almost the worst part of it all (other than, of course, the fact that he's gone) is that today's issue of the world-renowned Chicago Tribune didn't even mention his death. My soul weeps forevermore.
