Default NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Anybody else here a NHL hockey fan. My Red Wings just advanced to the conference finals to play the Chicago Blackhawks. How bout you all? Anybody got any picks for the next two series. I'll take Detroit in 6 against the Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 5 vs the Carolina Hurricanes.

Detroit beats Pittsburgh in 6 or 7.

I'm not a fan of the Red Wings since I am an Avalanche fan. They don't go together very well. I'll go for Blackhawks and Penguins.

I live just outside of Chicago, but haven't watched much hockey in the past 10 years or so, still - gotta hope that the Blackhawks win it all.

I don't mind "a" Blackhawks win, just as long as they know that's all they get is one!

Last night the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 to go up 1-0 in the series. The series resumes in Pittsburgh on Thursday night for game 2.

Just a few hours ago, the Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 to go up 2-0 in the series. The series moves from Detroit to Chicago on Friday for game 3.

Sorry ilianna, but your boys need to pick it up a notch if they want to avoid going into a sweep situation.

Go Wings!

The hockey action resumes tonight with Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals in North Carolina. The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday 6-2 to make their lead in the series 3-0. One more victory for the Pens and they advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.

In the Western Conference, the Detroit Red Wings avenged their Friday night loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday by winning 6-1, thus gaining a 3-1 game lead in the series. They play again on Wednesday night in Detroit. One more victory for the Red Wings and they advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Here's to both series-leading teams winning their next games to set up a rematch of last years finals.

Go Wings!!!

The Eastern Conference Finals are over and the Prince of Wales Trophy has been presented. The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 last night to sweep the series and once again earn a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Tonight in the Western Conference Finals, the Detroit Red Wings take on the Chicago Blackhawks in Detroit. Detroit leads the series 3-1 and with a win tonight can advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for a rematch of last years showdown.

The Stanley Cup is arguably the most prestigious trophy in sports, and if the Wings make it into the finals, you will see the two best teams in hockey today playing what could be some of the best hockey ever witnessed.

Oh no! Poor blackhawks. Oh well, hopefully the Avalanche will do better next season! Til then go Penguins!

Default The Stanley Cup Finals - Game 1

Game 1 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals is in the books and it was a helluva game between THE 2 best teams in the league: The Pittsburgh Penguins vs the Stanley Cup defending Detroit Red Wings. The Wings won 3-1 and did so with goals from some of their role-players. If you didn't watch you really missed out and I strongly urge you to watch tonight as game 2 starts around 8PM EST.

Wings 1
Pens 0
Takes four victories to win the Cup. We'll see what happens tonight...GO WINGS!!!

Sunday night in Detroit, the Wings and the Pens played Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals and the result was exactly the same, Wings win 3-1.

Tuesday was a different story however with the Wings playing on Penguin ice in Pittsburgh. The outcome was also different with the the Pens beating the Wings 4-2.

The Series is now 2-1, Wings lead, but anything can happen and the puck drops again tonight at 8PM EST on Verses.

If the Wings win tonight, we can clinch in Detroit on Saturday.

GO WINGS!
