A truly terrible and shocking day. We should never forget the victims of 9/11.

How sad, however, that the memory of that atrocity will forever be tainted by how our cynical and self-serving governments seized on it to crush the freedoms and liberties that they claimed the terrorists were seeking to take away. How sad that after two wars and reams and reams of authoritarian legislation we are no closer to finding Bin Laden now than we were in September 2001.

I will always remember...

I was in 5th grade when this happened.

Seven years ago today stupidity reigned supreme. Terrorism anywhere in the world is the ultimate act of ignorance. Osama Bin Laden is a fool to have even conceived the idea to attack the towers.

Seven years ago our president got the greatest publicity he could ask for.

A cynical point of view? Of course it is. It sucks that people died in such a horrible way, but the consequences of that day are worse. We invaded two countries and are no closer to winning the so-called "War On Terror" than we were seven years ago.

we're not?
imagine what it would be like if these rogue countries were cultivating, planning, and executing terrorism unhindered.
you seem to forget that 9/11 raised the bar pretty much into a formal declaration of war.

And we're not guilty of the same thing? How many innocent people have our armies killed in Iraq alone? Far more than were killed on 9/11. The death of innocent civilians is unacceptable in any situation.

I realize my views are unpopular with many people, but in terms of waging war and terrorism, the USA is as guilty as anyone else. We only look at 9/11 as being worse because it happened to us and not them.

I agree also 100%
Killing is wrong period
they say a million Iraqis have died and thier country is in ruins and they had zero involvement with the "attacks" ive seen nothing but our country go down the tubes in the last seven years
and we have to Borrow billions and billions of dollars to fight these wars whos gonna pay for it ???? and what a travesty that we waste this money on war instead of helping and fixing our country . War is wrong Killing is wrong
there is no such this as "good" bombs . Why should we have to act like terrorists ourselfs to fight it ? makes zero sence to me

I did not condone war and killing, but responded to the comment that we are not closer to stopping terrorism because of it.

*Putting on my geek hat for a moment*

It's like if Batman found out that the Joker blew up a bank and killed people and decided to attack The Green Goblin instead.
