Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
Losing John and George is really bad, but September 11th is definitely worse.

I agree with that one...losing them hurt, but those things that were listed are far worse.

Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
I agree with those things as well. Failing my driving test isn't worse than any of the previous things mentioned, but I did that today and it's made me feel miserable I just had to get that out....

Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
World Wars, the holocaust, 9/11, these are world tragedies, affecting millions of lives forever, the break-up was sad but not a tragedy.

Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
Of course 9/11 was *the* worst, as well as Hiroshima & Pearl Harbor. These and many other things far worse than that happen everyday (murders, rapes, etc.), makes the break-up of a rock band that much more insignificant. Doesn't it?

When 9/11 happened. That's a helluva lot worse than losing half of our favorite band.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">I agree with you is was far worse then losing two of the Beatles, but on a personal level the death of John Lennon was such a huge loss for me that I still can't deal with December 8th even 22 years later..

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Well put, beatlelover.there are just so many things that are worse than the break up of the Beatles.Too many to list.
The break up was their idea.I think their music would have suffered if they had stayed together.
Of course, thats just my opinion.

Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
I've had several "life-stopping" events, but I'll only mention these:
My heart stopped on 9-11 - and like millions of other panicky parents, I rushed to my children's schools and jerked them out.
As bad as that day was, though, I'd have to say that losing my son eclipsed that one. To fear losing one's child and to actually do so are 2 far different episodes...

Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
I agree with 9/11. It was an act of shear foolishness. Along those same lines was Tim McVeigh in Oklahoma City. Nobody I know protested his execution. The Heaven's Gate Cult was nonsense.
Really, what does mass murder prove?

Re: What was worse than the Break-up of The Beatles
I have been holding off weighing in on this, mostly because I do, quite frankly, find the question ludicrous...maybe to someone who hasn't experienced much in life the Beatles' break-up is a big deal, but honestly, it pales in comparison to most of the happenings of history.
I noticed that a lot of people mentioned 9/11 -- well, yes, I live in Manhattan, I saw and smelled the smoke firsthand, my husband lost a friend at the Trade Center...I'd say that's worse, a LOT worse...
The Holocaust was worse -- all those millions of people killed in mass genocide? My cousin being the sole survivor of his enormous family? Um...yeah...definitely worse, wouldn't you say?
John's murder was bad, definitely. Bad, unnecessary and extremely upsetting. But even that pales in comparison to events where many more hundreds, thousands or millions of lives were lost in one stroke.
I could go on, but I think you see my point..much as I love the Beatles (and I do, you all know that), I really think there are far bigger "bad" events in the world than the break-up of some band.
