This is from the song "Girl" right? If so, I
believe what it means (or what John is trying
to convey..) is that by the time a man
sweats his "---" off and finally gets home
from a grueling day, wants to totally please
his gal,etc. it's frustrating if her attitude is on the negative side and she's
"lifeless". Meantime, here's a B. phrase
