Default Beatle Feature Films: Work In Progress

heya everyone - I was working on something for all those fortunate enough to own the 5 films the Beatles starred in (AHDN, HELP, MMT, YS, LIB) and thought the guys here might like this - I'm definitely sure someone here can use this once I'm done with it :)

It's just a set of matching DVD covers to make your other DVDs on display jealous ;)

Keep in mind this is just the start of it - I might not be done for a while but if anyone would like to help me out with hi res art work you might have that relates to any of the movies, let me know - I can use all the help I can get on this puppy!

hehehe - I hope no one minds but I'm not really keen on just taking the movie art and slapping on some words so I used the covers of the movie sound tracks (such as help and yellow submarine) and made something slightly similar to the anthology covers

I'm still deciding on what to use for the background though - maybe a wall with a gentle texture?

thanks :) I've got the fronts kinda done but I'm looking for really good pictures from each movie to use on the back (2 or 3 per movie)

Those are great! That's the kind of thing Apple SHOULD do.
Put out a set. Maybe in 50 years or so.

That's a very professional job.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the wall.
I've noticed you used the Love backgound for MMT which works really well.
Would it be possible to find backgrounds for the other sleeves to make them stand out more and add some interest?
Just an idea!

thanks for the comment - For the background I kinda wanted to do something similar to the Anthology DVD set since I'll put them together so that it kinda blends better rather than having 5 random colored covers - one thing I wanted to avoid was doing a spanning set (a 5 dvd set where each DVD spine is part of a whole picture) so that idea is dead and I originally did the set like the AHDN Miramax release but since that's been done I thought Anthology might be cool to imitate :)

As for finding other backgrounds I wouldn't be opposed to doing 2 different sets (one like what I'm doing, and one that looks like the regular DVDs but better) it's just kind of hard to find good hi res images of the DVD art for the Beatles

If I start on a second set I'll post here :)

thanks again!

If you keep the 'on the wall' idea, maybe you could put the original movie posters instead of the record covers.
I've just noticed you put APPLE along the top which is pretty neat.
I think the faces on the spine could be a bit smaller.
Keep up the good work!

I'm finding it hard to find good clean scanned hi res movie covers - that's why I used the album covers - in the very first post (which you can't see really) the covers are all from the movies (except "Let it Be" because I don't like the cover of the Laserdisc or bootleg DVD) and are pretty poor quality when you look close

I struck it lucky and found very clean hi res scans of the albums (I think they're of the Parlaphone CD covers) and decided on a size and cropped to that (with minor alterations like taking the titles off or making the bottom also the top so it looks cleaner)

In any case, since the albums were also the soundtracks to the movies I figure they go hand in hand :)

As for the apple thing, I removed it (since not everyone has all the movies) but will put the green apple logo in the top right of the front of the new versions (since it's not an issue of continuity if it's there)

I also removed the faces from the spines because it looked horrible, IMO

As for the wall, I'm going back to the drawing board on that one - since it's the same area of spine for each one (as it's the same background on each DVD) when they are all together it looks pretty bad (the repeating = evil)

thanks for the comments!
