For sad songs I always listen to Johns solo material, thats what gives me something much more then beatles did (beatles wasn't so much about sad music).

But Beatles songs that I think are sad:

For No one
Because
The Long and Winding road
Let it be
Yesterday

Well yeah some of those songs might be called sad, but I am surprised no one has said " She Said, She said forget the druggy state of mind where this song came from, but the sadness of death, knowing what its like to be dead, "And your making me feel like I've never been born..." Now thats sad....

I know these aren't Beatles songs, but I just made a new "sad cd" and put Here Today and Happy Xmas on them. I think those are the two saddest songs I've ever heard. Here Today makes me feel like crying every time I listen to it, it's such a beautiful song.

If I Fell was the very first song I thought was sad when I was little.

Baby's in Black
Eleanor Rigby
For No One
Girl
I'll Be Back
I'm a Loser
In My Life
(beautiful and bittersweet - I love it and it's one of my favorites)
Julia
Long & Winding Road
Mother
No Reply
Nowhere Man
She Said, She Said
She's Leaving Home
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Yes It Is
Yesterday

I love each and every one of these songs.

Uhh, I don't really have a list of sad songs...I hate "Long and Winding ROad" (sorry, i can't help it, i do!) and "She's Leaving Home" makes me cry. But whenever I had a bad day or watever, I listen to Rubber Soul. Don't know why, but if that helps at all...

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Yeah, when I listen to Rubber Soul, it helps make a bad day less bad. It's a good Rx for the blues.

I also strongly recommend A Hard Day's Night and Revolver. These tested well as blues busters. I've studied this.

She's Leaving Home and Golden Slumbers I never thought of as sad. Long and Winding road is the saddest Beatles song in my opinion.

You've Got TO Hide Your Love Away always makes me feel a bit depressive. But I tihnk the sadest song is Here Today, though it's a Paul-solo-song

I think that "While my guitar..." and "The long and winding road" are sad songs. I DON'T have to listen to them when I'm not in good mood.

"For no one" is a sad song, and is very real too!!! But the music itself isn't sad, for me.

Then, "Anna(go to him)" s a bit sad, don't you think so? (Well, maybe it is because the song is called just like me)

Hiya PL, I too understand and appreciate the need for "mood music" When depressed, there's nothing worse than having to listen to sugary-sweet, cheerful, cute, bubblegum pop/dance tunes. IMO it's like listening to love-songs after your heart's been ripped out of your chest and stomped into the pavement so here's a list of what I consider to be some of the Beatles' saddest (or saddest-sounding) songs:

"For No One"
"I'm so Tired"
"I'm Down" (topic more than sound, heh)
"Strawberry Fields Forever"
"Julia"
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
"I'm a Loser"
"Long Long Long"
"Yer Blues"
"Nowhere Man"
"Yes It Is"
"Fool on the Hill"
"The Long and Winding Road"
"She's Leaving Home"
"Eleanor Rigby"
"Yesterday"
"I Me Mine"
"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away"
"Don't Bother Me"
"Think For Yourself" (TMTS)
"Misery"
"No Reply"

Hopefully, you won't have to play your 'sad Beatles songs' CD often, & if you're feeling sad now for whatever reason, I hope you feel much better soon... Take care!

Things We Said Today contains such musical melancholy that can be found on some latino tunes, like Mexican or Argentinian songs.

Both Sgt.Pepper and Let It Be albums are very sad for me. But I believe it's because they are my rainy day bus ride albums, and I have been accustomed to that setting.
But..
But by far, if you want to be in a sad mood after, listen to Beautiful Boy. I always end up crying.

Anything George's is now sad... But if you are sad, listen to "Blown Away"
