Default How many Beatles albums sold so far?

I've been watching a music station on cable and they show a few Beatles songs along with trivia like how many albums were sold, per album. They show it so fast that I couldn't really catch all the info. Some albums had been certified like 15x's Platnium status. Does anyone know what this means? And does anyone have statistics on their albums as to how many have been sold so far? I think Platnium is 2,000,000 albums sold, so 15x's that, Wow!
Let me know if you know, thanks.

Here are RIAA and SoundScan figures, slave. The SoundScan tracking is only from 1991 on. Something else to keep in mind about the RIAA figures is that each double album is counted as two units, not one.

Gold is 500,000
Platinum is actually 1,000,000.
Multi-Platinum is 2,000,000.
and Diamond is 10,000,000!!

But what's the actual TOTAL number (all albums) ?

Here is something I got off the Internet. The Beatles hold the record for Diamond Recordings (6), meaning albums that have sold in excess of 10 million.
Here they are in order:
1. The Beatles "White Album" (over 19 million)

2. The Beatles (Blue) 1967-1970 (over 16 million)

3. The Beatles (Red) 1964-1966 (over 15 million)

4. Abbey Road (over 12 million)

5. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (over 11 million)

6. The Beatles 1 (over 10 million)

Not so long ago, I heard a DJ saying that the total number so far, is almost (or more, I don´t remember) 1,000,000,000..
I really don´t know if he was a reliable source...I think we have to find out

I've heard that in 1964 or '65 that half the records sold in the world were fabs...wild, if true.

Most numbers listed here seems to be US and/or UK sales. Has anyone reliable figures for worldwide sales?

I don't know what that means, this word is not in my dictionary.
But I assume it means quite a lot.

By '85 they sold over a billion records world-wide. I remember reading recently it's 1.3 billion, but can't remember until which year.

hmmm is this a challenge? Are we gonna make a competition on who sold the LEAST? Well, then noone has a chance. Ive gonne into the negative. I actually gave away the original Let it be LP, which my dad bought in London in '70. Along with The Wall, dark side of the moon, a nd a rock encyclopedia, which wasn't even mine. The fellow who HAD it once upon a time, said to me: "I hate money. I'm gonna BURN all my possesions." I said "ok, let me contribute to that gigantic number by giving away your ency<clopedia, which you borrowed me" "sure, at least I won't burn it" I gave those 4 things to a fellow, who in return burned them all!

The Beatles have sold almost 107,000,000 albums in the U.S alone according to Wikipedia.
