I don't consider this off topic whereas when you do listen to the Tom Petty album, you can recognize some reflections to George's style.

To add to bobdude's post, in that same issue of GW, there was an interview with Tom Petty that had a nice little George mention.

The interviewer pointed out to Tom that The Last DJ "seemed steeped in George Harrison's musical influence". Tom replied that he wasn't surprised as George was very ill when Last DJ was recorded so George was on his mind a great deal.

He also played The Man Who Loves Women for George.

"It was George who taught me how to play the uke, says Petty. And he gave me the ukulele that I used on the record. I actually remember playing that song to George in my kitchen at home before we made a record of it. I'd just written it on the uke. He got a kick out of it. He was trying to rewrite the bridge. I said No, no, no. It's fine man." [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] * I can just see George doing this!

This might be a bit off topic but I thought it would nice to share this with those who may not have read this issue of GW.

I know this is an oldie but I just wanna take it forward again becausr it is so nice to read

Tom and George were really very close...often I think even closer than George and Bob....Dylan
