Best live album by a former Beatle?
My favourite is Tripping The Live Fantastic, because has the best set of songs, and the performances of Paul and the band are really good, although Iīve heard there was some studio post-production, but I guess thatīs usual on live albums.

I chose Bangladesh. I think that George did many things for benefit for the Country.

Re: Best live album by a former Beatle?
i think side one of live peace in toronto by the plastic ono band is the best. it is the first solo outing of a beatle, and the music is tight and raw! the band is on target throughout this set and john's voice is great, tho we could do without yoko's abominable yarbling. (the video for this (sweet toronto) just confirms this).
but for six songs this is the best by far~

For me, it begins and ends with 'Bangladesh' - just the vibration of that concert and the positive energy behind its intention is beautiful and comes through... and the sheer scope of the music and performers is wonderful clearly demonstrates just how strong a musical, creative, and spiritual force George was. <font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">yeah but it sounds very dated when you listen to it today. not like the orginal beatle music, which is of course timeless. he somehow manages to make them all sound very of-their-time...which is 80s lameness. too many stupid horns. yuck.
still, it's worthwhile just for the non-macca/beatles numbers like "20 flight rock."
i think paul is at his best when he's doing that old rock and roll stuff, so i chose his MTV Unplugged album. the cavern show should have been on the list too, which is almost as good. anyway, that version of "be bop a lu la" is the best i've ever heard. and "every night" is perfect. it's my all-time fave paul album. and it's extra awesome when he screws up "we can work it out"

I haven't heard them all, but my vote went to "Tripping The Live Fantastic." It's just a terrific combination of Beatles, Wings, and "Flowers in the Dirt" numbers (an album I absolutely love)! Plus, I absolutely love that live version of "Things We Said Today."

Re: Best live album by a former Beatle?
My vote is 100% behind Bangladesh too... though I do live Tripping and have quite a soft spot for the Third All Starr Band CD. I find Paul's new one a bit, I dunno, there's not the same vibe there was on Tripping. But it's still pretty to listen to. I'm afraid I'm not very much into Driving Rain which really upsets me cos I've really enjoyed all of Paul's previous albums excessively. This one kind of burst my bubble a bit. :-( Maybe he's getting too modern and funky for me or something?

I went with Live In Japan because it simply feels closer to my heart.
Non-George, I'd choose Wings Over America~ I love that album!

Re: Best live album by a former Beatle?
That's easy... the best live (or maybe not) ex-Beatle record is 1962's "Off Bass - Stu Suttcliff Live At Leeds"

Re: Best live album by a former Beatle?
Wings over America for sure.
Based on the fact that it sounds as good as any of Paul's studio albums. Very strong live album.

As for me, I voted for "Back In The US Live". I love the live version of "Getting Better", and the tributes to John and George are really moving.
