Default Articles on Writing

Here's a topic where we can post links to articles on writing. They can be general articles on writing or ones devoted to fanfic.

I'll start with a link to my site:

http://www.sandraulbrich.com/passing_the_pen.htm

There are about a dozen essays I've written on writing and the writing life, with examples drawn from my own experience. Some of them apply to just science fiction/fantasy writing; others are more general. I've also included notes from panels I've attended at conventions; the panels deal with writing as a craft and as a business.

Thanks for the links!!

I'm taking grade 12 Writers Craft this year and were beggining our big independent end of the year project, and the first portion of it is reading a how to book on our selected genre (I choose fiction). The Book I'm doing right now is Jack Hodgins "A Passion For Narrative". I highly recommend it, I've found it very insightful and interesting!

Ray Bradbury's "Zen and the Art of Writing" has some helpful essays he wrote based on his experience as a writer for fifty some years. It's interesting to see how other writers learned their craft & it does take a lot of patience and fortitude, Bradbury mention's it took him ten years to finally write a story he thought was a "fine story."

Welcome to Beatlelinks, Jim. I looked at your link, but I didn't see anything on that page having to do with writing. If you want to advertise your site, it would be more appropriate to put a link in your signature or start another topic elsewhere. I'll give you a day or two to take care of that before I edit your post. Thanks.

I'm planning to write a Beatle fanfic. It's in my head now. Are you still accepting submissions in Rooftop Sessions?

I don't run Rooftop Sessions; Susan Ryan (who used to post here as HMVNipper) does. She is currently looking for fanfic, though. I suggest you read the guidelines here before you submit your story.

She'd like to get it started again if she gets some stories.

Has anyone submitted his or her stories yet? I'd like to submit mine too!

I don't know if anyone has submitted anything yet. If you think your story fits her guidelines, then why not go ahead and send it to her?

More for those writing Fan Fiction, but also handy for anyone who wants to write in a British accent or dialect (and quite an entertaining website anyway) is Effingpot - http://www.effingpot.com/ - The Americans Guide to Speaking British
