Default Lost Weekend Question 4

///

The Lennon/Jagger collaboration, 'Too May Cooks' was recorded during the Lost Weekend (Record Plant Studio, West Los Angeles) in 1974.

Most music websites/books will tell you that it's a cover of 'Too Many Cooks' by Willie Dixon.

That is actually incorrect. Willie Dixon did indeed write a song called 'Too Many Cooks' but it wasn't the song Lennon & Jagger covered.

1) What is the correct song that Lennon & Jagger covered ?
2) When was the Lennon/Jagger cover finally released ?
3) And on which album did it feature ?

easy... ;)

I think I'm the only person left on the planet who cares about Lennon's Lost Weekend...
I'm smack-bang in the middle of a Beatles forum and can't get an answer to a Lennon/Jagger collaboration !!!

OK, a clue... the song wasn't released until around 25 years later !!!

easy... :)

I know that the album was "The Very Best of Mick Jagger" and it was released in 2007, but I can't find the answer to the first question. =/

Yep... it was the 1969 debut single by '100 Proof - Aged In Soul'. :)

That was a tough part of the question, Kay... yeah, I had it wrong on my site site for over six months til I got an email from a visitor pointing out the mistake. All the references that I previously came across (both books and websites) said it was a Willie Dixon cover.

So yeah, its good when visitors send me corrections.

Anyways, Kay...
I'm countin on you to answer the other questions, somebody's gotta gotta fly the flag for Lennon/Pang's Lost Weekend. lol ;)

easy... :)

Nah, you're not...
I'm currently reading May Pang's book and have been thoroughly interested in the 'Lost Weekend' period, having read accounts in the Goldman and Norman books as well as 'You Never Give Me Your Money.'..
I also recently visited Los Angeles and if I'm not mistaken, the Troubador, the Manson murders, the Beatles/Elvis meeting and the OJ Simpson murders were all within a few miles of each other.

Philip Norman has a knack for writing history the way he'd like it to be... therefore he references/interviews those who support his predetermined views.

Check this out, JFKin60... often times, Norman's, Gruen's and Mintz's claims are not substantiated.
