I think Paul is only really underrated as a vocalist by John Snobs. (Who are TOTALLY different from John fans, who are awesome, by the way.) John Snobs basically refuse to believe that Paul was anything more than a glorified second banana to their precious John and do everything they can to belittle Paul's contributions to the group's success. Luckily, they are few and far between, but many of them seem to be rock critics.

It has always bothered me that people have become "polarized" in re Lennon & McCartney. To enjoy one is not to dislike the other. After all, it was Lennon & McCartney who wrote "Come Together!" Darn shame the snobs seem to feel differently.
Each Beatle had his own individual style of unique and extraordinary talent. In my life, I've loved them all (but prefer McCartney & Harrison's music, Beatles and solo).
