For the sake of convenience, MP3's are the most universal. Many people do not like to download additional software (free or not) to be able to listen to a song or burn a CD. MP3's can transport instantly to iPods and CD's. Still I'd say MP3's are of sufficient quality if they are out selling CD's although I do prefer lossless myself. Unfortunately, iTunes does not offer FLAC or other lossless files.
