I was watching it as it happened - I literally cried as those valiant Iraqis struggled to show their hatred towards a hunk of metal firmly attached a concrete plinth. And I drew a deep breath when they approached the US Marines to help them finally topple the statue.
I've watched more than one of these statues and pictures being taken down over the past weeks - and I held my breath in expectation as the cameramen focussed on the "Liberty" grounds' statue of the "Black Knight" as the Iraqis swarmed over it, throwing shoes and whatall at it. This is a great day for Baghdad, and for Iraq.
