Re: Songs you wish were on anthology.

Here's John Winn's explanation of the 11 September 1962 recording of "Please Please Me":

Time: 5.00-6.45 pm
Location: EMI Studio 2
Producer: Ron Richards

[A.] PS I Love You...

Re: Songs you wish were on anthology.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">"Please Please Me" on Anthology 1 is from an acetate - the date is speculative, but Lewisohn dates it in the booklet as 11 Sep 1962. The dating for the...

beatlemoney.com asserts this:
"Magic Alex lived in a 20,000 house John bought."

Thought I'd address these points factually.

Re: 1965 Christmas Message Outtake(?)

I've made my own comparison mp3s to prove that it is indeed their voices, PM me if you'd like to hear them. It *is* in fact their voices, it's just the tape is a little sped up.

Re: \'Guitar Bop\'?

What you have there is the Duane Eddy song "Movin' And Groovin'" (Eddy/Hazelwood) from the Beatles' 1960 tapes (or Beatals, as they were called at the time). It's usually edited into a medley with...

Re: The Beatles--Take 1

Even though "I'm Looking Through You" take 1 is available on Anthology 2, it would make a great addition, as it is a very good take.

Re: The Beatles--Take 1

Take 1 of "Your Mother Should Know" isn't available - the earliest one, take 9 is on "Acetates". Take 1 for "No Reply" is on "Abbey Road Video Show" (Strawberry), among others.

Re: 1965 Christmas Message Outtake(?)

George mentions it's their third Christmas record, and it matches the kind of speech featured in the 1965 record, so that means that it's one of three takes recorded at 3 am on 9 November 1965 (just...

ono: Yes, I did use two of Lewisohn's books, but other sources (Sulpy, etc.) were needed to compile the list.

You're right, the various speech bits don't really belong there, I just included them basically for sake of completeness. Some were slated takes (Australia, Christmas) and some weren't (Think For...
