<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Not to make this into a debate thing, but I absolutely LOVE this song- better than the original. In fact, they don't even play the original anymore on the radio where I live, just John's version.

However, WGYTTN has never been a personal favorite of mine.

There's a few: "Do The Oz", "Cold Turkey" (I know that some people love it, but can't listen to it), "I Found Out", "Scared", "Well, Well, Well", "Ya Ya"...and of course, the "Two Virgins" and "Life With The Lions" albums

I was really disappointed with the Double Fantasy material. Starting Over is OK, if you forget the lyrics. Woman is OK too, until you realize how grovelling John sounds. Beautiful Boy (though many like it) is just so corny and schmaltzy to my ears - did this really come from the brain of John Lennon?

And forget Milk and Honey - a blight on Lennon's memory. Even Nobody Told Me is pedestrian after a few listens.

I occasionally listen to the Lennons' Unfinished Music albums.

Two Virgins I don't like much. The lyrics are a little loose for my tastes. The best track is Two Virgins Number 5. *

Life With The Lions is a wonderful album. Side 1 has Yoko doing her vocal thing in fine style. John's guitar work is spot on. Side 2 opens with No Bed For Beatle John, a nice chant about John and Yoko's merry adventures. The highlight of the album is Radio Play. Very listenable. Many radio "personalities" aren't half as interesting. *

Wedding Album is a little too self-centered for my taste, though the "John?"- "Yoko?"- "John!"- "Yoko!"-side has its moments.

I love most of John's work...especially Stand By Me, Woman, Watching the Wheels, etc, etc. Very rarely do I hear one of his songs that I skip over on the CD. Most of the time, it would be 'Cold Turkey.' I haven't heard any of the stuff on Two Virgins or the Wedding Album, but I was not impressed with Life With The Lions at all.

Re: Songs we wish John hadnt recorded

You know...John's music is very special to me. I don't have a lot of artists where I could listen to practically everything they do/did and have only a few songs I don't care much for. I don't hate ANYTHING John did. Maybe slightly dislike, but certainly not hate.

Now Cecilia, all respect to you and your lovely opinions dear, but many of those songs on there- especially I Found Out and Well Well Well...I LOVE those songs man. Maybe its just me.

I love it when someone gets all angry and cathartic and starts letting it all out. And, as well, I also enjoy sweet songs- like the ones on Double Fantasy. But Beautiful Boy and Woman are sacred to me. You can insult the others, but those two are like two of my favorite songs ever.

Oh well...nevermind me. Everyone's got their own opinion.

Well, let's put it this way...when Double Fantasy came out, John was in a different part of his life than he was five years ealier. I love 'Woman' 'Starting Over' and 'Beautiful Boy.' John really knew how to write a love song, unlike the so-called "love songs" today (Gag!) Oh, I also love his version of 'Stand By Me.' Almost as good as the real one. Guess I could name "Two Virgins" or "The Wedding Album" but I haven't got them, and I am in no rush to buy them, I will tho as they are part of John's out put.

I can't name one song I don't like from John's other official albums, so I take something that's on Anthology "Do The Ozz" and "God Save Ozz", both songs he thankfully gave away.

I absolutely adore, stand by me, woman, beatiful boy, and many many others. There are some that i would skip rather than listen too, but there arent many albums that i wouldnt do that for some of the tracks.

That said, at least his heart was in the right place.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">I think the great thing about GPAC is that it's a superb street song. Forget the gobble-de-gook: that's for the big Lennon fans (of which I'm one). Think of the chorus: think of how easy it is to chant. Think of how rousing it sounds one thousands chant "All we are saying, is give peace a chance!"

Post-Beatles, John's output was scrappy but he reached some great highs nonetheless. Two of those highs were GPAC, and Happy Xmas, which has become a Christmas standard.
