Today\'s Beatles Song

Like in the solo Forums, I would say one song a day, open to everyone for suggestions;

May I start with a very special one

Here, there and everywhere

Fantastic song by Paul mainly however would not be the same thanks to the amazing harmonies and the musical arrangement which makes it special.

To lead a better life
I need my love to be here

Here, making each day of the year
Changing my life with a wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there's something there

There, running my hands through her hair
Both of us thinking how good it can be
Someone is speaking, but she doesn't know he's there

I want her everywhere
And if she's beside me I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her

Everywhere, knowing that love is to share
Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there

I want her everywhere
And if she's beside me I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her

I will be there, and everywhere
Here, there and everywhere

This is one of Maccas that's underappreciated, and it was one of John's favorite too! It's pretty cool with the Greek sounding guitar solo in it. The lyrics are really quite sweet also. Nice choice to start this new thread, FP! YAY!

I agree. This is an absolutely beautiful song. It makes me stop doing what I'm doing just to listen.

Time for another suggestion?

Well, it's a gorgeous day here, but I feel like a little "Rain." There are so many great Beatles songs that are part of the popular culture, but this one was one I had to discover by digging a little deeper into the catalogue. A surreal sound, philosophical lyrics (and backwards ones too), and Ringo's drumming -- what more can I say?

Great choice!! one of my favorites (top three actually) This song really pulls you in, the lyrics, guitar and yes definitely the drums. I also love the video.

Awesome song, a good choice! Cool lyrics, great tune, and the backwards singing was just another way the Beatles changed music history. Niar, niar, niar...

I love "Rain" too, guess it is one that I never heard a lot of when I was young, so I never seem to hear it enough now.

I love "Rain!" It's one of my favorites. I actually did hear it played in the background of a television show once though.

Re: Today\'s Beatles Song

One of the Beatles most underrated songs. The guitars are so crisp and Ringo's drumming is superb.

Rain

(Lennon/McCartney)

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads.
They might as well be dead.
If the rain comes, if the rain comes.
When the sun shines they slip into the shade
(When the sun shines down.)
And drink their lemonade.
(When the sun shines down.)

When the sun shines, when the sun shines.
Rain, I don't mind.
Shine, the weather's fine.
I can show you that when it starts to rain,
(When the sun shines down.)
Everything's the same.
(When the sun shines down.)
I can show you, I can show you.

Rain, I don't mind.
Shine, the weather's fine.

Can you hear me, that when it rains and shines,
(When the sun shines down.)
It's just a state of mind?
(When the sun shines down.)
Can you hear me, can you hear me?

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads.
Sdaeh rieht edih dna nur yeht semoc niar eht fi.
(Rain)
Nair.
(Rain)
Enihsnus.

I guess I'll do something uncharacteristic and take the lead. For today's song my all time fave:

I Saw Her Standing There

IMO Great song, their best rocker! Fantastic lyrics, awesome music and they obviously loved performing this one. Hard to believe this classic came from such young boys!

Here there and Everywhere: such a beautiful atmosphere created on this one. It does make you stop and listen.

Rain : such an interesting atmosphere created on this one. Really inventive in every aspect. No song has sounded like this before and no song has ever sounded like after. Ringo shows why he's a Beatle.

I Saw Her Standing There: such an exciting atmosphere created on this one, especially at the time it came out. It set standards for straight up rock and roll.

Re: Today\'s Beatles Song

"I Saw Her Standing There" was the perfect opening song for their first album. It showed that the Beatles were here to make a statement. The guitar work was inspiring. Nothing like this had been done before on record. The energy expelled just seem to take over your body and make you want to dance.

I Saw Her Standing There

(McCartney/Lennon)

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 !

Well, she was just seventeen,
You know what I mean,
And the way she looked was way beyond compare.
So how could I dance with another (whooh)
When I saw her standin' there.

Well she looked at me,
And I, I could see
That before too long
I'd fall in love with her.
She wouldn't dance with another (whooh)
When I saw her standin' there.

Well, my heart went "boom,"
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...

Oh, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there.

(Waaaahh!)

Well, my heart went "boom,"
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...

Oh, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now I'll never dance with another (whooh)
Since I saw her standing there,
Well, since I saw her standing there,
Yeah, well since I saw her standing there.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">My sentiments exactly, I loved this song as a young lady, it always came to mind when I was at dances or gigs with some great bands and got asked to dance, what fun seeing them standing there and them asking you to dance, well I digress, that was quite a while ago, thanks for the memories... Re: Today\'s Beatles Song

Today's song is a true classic. The orchestral arrangemnet was improvised but the effect it gave was awesome. One of John's best works indeed. So what are everyone else's thought of "A Day In The Life"?

A Day In The Life

(Lennon/McCartney)

I read the news today, oh, boy,
About a lucky man who made the grade,
And though the news was rather sad,
Well, I just had to laugh,
I saw the photograph.
He blew his mind out in a car.
He didn't notice that the lights had changed.
A crowd of people stood and stared.
They'd seen his face before,
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today, oh, boy,
The English army had just won the war.
A crowd of people turned away,
But I just had to look
Having read the book.
I'd love to turn you on.

Woke up, got out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head.
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
and looking up, I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat,
Made the bus in seconds flat.
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream.

Ah.

I read the news today, oh, boy,
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire.
And though the holes were rather small,
They had to count them all.
Now they know how many holes
It takes to fill the Albert Hall.
I'd love to turn you on.

Re: Today\'s Beatles Song

The section after Pauls, with the swirling orchestra and Johns "ahh"s is one of the most spine tingling moments in music. Its possibly the greatest moment in pop music history. While it might not be a tune to dance to, it finds its affect in your heart and mind. Most music cannot aspire to this, so what Im saying is,...
yeah, I like it!

Yes, again it was something no other band or artist had done before. It's not my most popular part of the album, but from a historic point and memorial point it sure is.

What later became 'modern' music in philharmonic orchestra's was maybe the follow up on what the Beatles introduced to the philharmonic world.

I really like the echo-ed Ah part; when it starts it's like it will never end, like someone takes you on a long never ending road, and then the music score comes back in a fabulous way.

<font size="2" face="Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif">Funnily enough, and this is maybe something more for the Boot forum, but on the mono mix, that part from John is MUCH less evident, lower in the mix. Which is dissapointing, since the mono mix is so punchy.
